I'm in Australia where one can expect to pay ridiculous amounts of money for LPs in stores. For example, the latest Converge album goes for $55 here. WTF

I still like it! It's not super amazing but it's definitely enjoyable:)

Loveless seems more of a 'classic' album than this one. But I still enjoy putting this album on and getting lost in the sounds and tones. Tracks 2 and 5 might just be my favourites.

I love this album. This and Exai make 2013 already better than most previous years for me.

" Last law bearing means that any reformer or Prophet will be a subordinate of the Holy Prophet (saw) and no new Messenger and Prophet with a new religion, book or decree will come after him. Everything from him will be under the banner of Islam only."

So a real contender for WATMM Album of the Year and it's not necessarily electronic. This could be the South American Pope of LPs.

And he's going to remaster everything all over again? Man, can't wait to hear the barely perceptible difference that makes.

i know, i cringed a bit at that. hey guys i know i recently remastered all this stuff (twice) but i had a great idea... let's do it again!

I still like mbv. It's not loveless, at all. It's still a great listen. It's a top tier shoegze guitar album which is saying a shitload if you like stuff like ride, slowdive, stone Roses, curve, etc

After my third listen I think it's pretty great. First listen I was like "this is Loveless without the memorable songs + a few innovative ones towards the end that suggest a new direction. Also, ridiculously quiet." Second listen I was all "okay, still not a huge step forward from Loveless, but some interesting ideas and the second half really does kick ass." On the third listen I could actually follow along and fell in love with all those memorable bits that I had first written off as forgettable. I like how a lot of the songs progress from A to B to C without falling back on an obvious refrain, but instead build towards something. And that organ themed track is gorgeous. I could see this one becoming a classic.

I love that one. It appeals to the noise fan in me. It's so hypnotic, and the subtle way the tones and textures change keeps it engaging. I love the way that one's produced, and it sets up the closing song perfectly... which is definitely an album highlight. If the rest of the album was as innovative as that final track... Of course it would probably get a universal wtf from music journalists, except for Pitchfork who would lavish praise upon it regardless of whether they got it or not.

I really enjoy most of the album, especially the closer 'Wonder 2' which is mind blowing... Not really feeling the organ track ' Is This And Yes': thus far it is the low point for me, but I do respect them for stepping out of their comfort zone.

i think it's understandable. the guy is obsessed with broken, "bent" sounds, so of course he likes aspects of skrillex. that's what he seems to be saying.

it's a really nice interview, for some reason i had this image of him being a pretentious cunt but this interview shatters it completely. he comes off very friendly, honest, down to earth and very enthusiastic about what he does.

Hoping to hear a lot of these tracks live next Friday, and still retain my hearing! Lol

And here I was wondering why I couldn't detect any discernible difference between the two. It was just as pointless as I suspected.

regarding the apparent incoming re-remaster, he did fuck it up so if he can fix it, that would be cool.

According to the comments in that thread, it has been fixed. Maybe they just want to put out another "new" version to clear up lingering doubts that it was fixed. Or maybe he's just fucking crazy.

I dunno if I could bring myself to buy it now, being unsure whether I got a bad one or not

Does anyone else think the new one just qualifies as decent? Yeah, it sounds like everyone's favorite shoegaze band, but the melodies just aren't there like they used to be, and they really, really, just didn't rock out or do anything all that interesting or memorable on here. And people think it's as good as Loveless? My least favorite songs on Loveless, You Made Me Realize, Isn't Anything, Tremolo, or Glider are MUCH better than my favorites on the new one.

I guess it's the BoC effect, where people are so happy to finally get that new album, the social factors surrounding the music are more important than the actual tracks. And similarly, both bands are frozen in a certain time period and have been completely left in the dust by people they've influenced.

i honestly don't consider m b v to be an album, really. it's a collection of incomplete tracks from different years that were completed in recent times. it doesn't hold together as an album but sounds more like a collection of 3 EPs.

there are still some really good tracks on there that stand alongside some of their best works in my opinion. it just doesn't have that trippy Loveless vibe, due mostly to the way it was recorded and mixed.

Yeah I enjoyed this at 1st but rarely listen to it now & It just doesnt grab me in the way that their earlier stuff did, but not sure if thats down to me or the music... I was obsessed with MBV when I was at uni and listening to the old stuff know takes me back so its hard for me to judge this objetively
