Chris Toffer
I think those of u saying YJY UX are mistaking this for a top 3 tracks thread. its bottom 3 guys.. read the thread title Edited October 26, 2013 by Chris Toffer Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77609-exai-bottom-three/page/8/#findComment-2080350 Share on other sites
Candiru
Seriously... YJY UX and spl9. NOT liking these tracks is something I don't even want to come close to understanding. thehauntingsoul
spl9 is amazing, I'm not sure how you aren't into it if you're into most Ae from the last 10 years. YJY UX isn't really a bad track, it just doesn't hold up to the rest. It kinda wanders around into some sad melancholy areas that work perfectly as a closer, but I'm usually not feeling it. Jatevee C is a fun track to listen to but they don't really go anywhere interesting with the progression. And Runrepik still hasn't clicked completely with me so I'll have to list those 3 as my bottom three. They aren't bad tracks, just not as good as the rest of Exai. thehauntingsoul
Cloudline and Irlite are both some of the best on Exai. How does this happen every time they release new material? markedone
The first half of irlite is great, especially the static tumble around 4:30. But the second half has such an odd atmosphere, it comes off a bit cheesy and more serious than I'd like. Cloudline is the opposite, with a very strong ending. But the tempo of the first half irks me, and makes it feel like forever before it hits its stride. Both tracks are interesting, but not as compelling as the rest of the album. Guest Chogg
I still don't like irlite because it just sounds goofy and messy; even if I summon all my fanboy nerdpower and appreciate it for all that it is technologically, I just don't dig it as a piece of music. fleure blew my mind at first but it actually doesn't fit in with the rest of the album at all imo and for that reason gets skipped a lot spl9 is usually too much for me to really take in but i do predict the day when it blows my mind bladelores gets honorable mention for being a bit of a bore (top 3 I'd say are cloudline, yjy ux, tuinorizn. keyosc for honourable mention) fanboy out Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77609-exai-bottom-three/page/8/#findComment-2080835 Share on other sites

fizzkinz
I'm with people on runrepik being in the bottom, and to a lesser extent nodezsh. But deco loc is really good. I'm not saying it's in the top 3, or anything like that. But I don't see what people dislike about it. Oh well. PlatrixECV
runrepik tuinorizn are def the bottom two for me. Almost always skip. Probably FLeuree would be the third. Boxus
deco loc is great! It's a lot simpler than most of the album, lush and easy on the ears. It takes the breathing room of cloudline and goes even more minimal and laid back with it. I can listen to it on repeat and not get bored, it just makes a real nice headspace. I would be happy if they released a whole ep of more stripped down hip hop sample jams like deco loc, maybe under an alias. runrepik is near the bottom for me too, though I'm liking it more and more. It's kind of a chore to listen through sometimes. PlatrixECV
deco loc is great and it seems to me like an outright jam. Like they are trading fours on the fly. danshoebridge
I really like the run of 1 1 is -> nodezsh -> runrepik -> spl9. In fact, without wishing to sound too fanboy-ish, I can't really pick a bottom three. The only track that doesn't do that much for me is tuinorizn, and that's short enough not to bother me. Suffocate Peon
Surprised at irlite mentions, I think it's one of their better tracks of the last few years, i like that it actually has a melody and I can turn it up loud and get into it. I think it has a magic that's been missing in recent Autechre. It's the jittery constipated ones that remind me of qplay that I don't like. These irritate me jatevee C prac-f deco Loc Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Suffocate Peon's signature Hide all signatures art photos characters (new) photos 2 photos 3 Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77609-exai-bottom-three/page/8/#findComment-2083001 Share on other sites
