Exai bottom three

Recommended Posts

irlite will probably grow on you. I felt exactly the same way you did on first (and probably second and third) listen.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

irlite was great on the initial listens, but lately it's taken a back seat to tracks like nodezsh, flep, Fleure and runrepik.

runrepik has become fucking awesome infact

foods in the tone of 'go to the fuckin store'

patayda chips

apple cracker thangies

carrots in brown paper bag

still can't stand t ess xi, tuinorizn or cloudline. they are bottom 3 easy.

flep, nodezsh and runrepik are not growing on me

deco loc and yjy ux are surprisingly disappointing. initially i thought yjy ux would be a grower but i end up waiting for fleure (FLURRY) to start about halfway through.

you need to tack keyosc onto your list, bro

Tracks im still ambivalent towards;

Cloudline

Recks On

YJY UX

However, these are all late in the album (90 mins +), and historically, late album ae tracks have taken me longer to warm to, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Deco Loc is no saint either, but along with jatavee c it adds some accessible light and optimism to a 2 hour ae album.

The album up till end of Spl9 however is beautiful, with bladelores (mainly due to positioning) the centrepiece. Part of me wishes the best ideas of the last 4 tracks were mixed together as an epic closer following spl9.

Tuinorizn & t ess xi are passable tracks. Not standouts or anything, but still with their own little delights. The rest of the tracks are brilliant imo.

Christ, cloudlines the 3rd best track on the album. What kinda butt monkey would put it in the bottom 3?

Haha, yeah, those three are three of my absolute favorites, to each their own. I'm gradually starting to realize there are at least two distinct types of Ae fans in terms of taste and favorite tracks, etc.

yeah, this must be the case, since I get nothing from cloudline, its my least favorite. But deco loc, which others don't seem to like, is easily one of my highlights. I love the minimal palette, and deep psychadelic second half

At least most seem to agree that runrepik is badass, its sounds akin to their live set

runrepik is almost directly taken from oversteps era livesets, but the drums were much different. the album drums are a bit of a strange choice compared with the live drums but i don't dislike them.

I take back what I said about cloudline, it's amazing.

Now my bottom three is

Nodezsh

runrepik

Flep

And I find them to be 3 of the very best tracks. Definitly a schism it seems lol.

I would love spl9 a hell of a lot more if the snares weren't so goddamn weak and Perlence-y. This track would be 10000x better if they used a fat powerful snare like in t ess XI (where, by the way, it sounds ridiculously out of place and topheavy). I don't think I've ever been as critical of their drum palette as I have on Exai.

But seriously guys, keyosc. How can you not love those rattling metallic percussive sounds? And the I-V-I-V movement is admittedly cheesy, but try to think of it as ae doing a hoedown :derp:

Fleure is incredible, one of the highlights, my favorite opener sknce xylin room or maybe even cipater.

Cloudline is also up there, it's a track only ae could have made, but still totally unexpected.

jatavee-c initially sounded boringly simple and uninteresting. How wrong I was, it's really grown on me lately. lush stuff.

bottom three:

tuinorizn

deco loc

YJY UX

patayda chips

I agree for the most apart about the drum palette. I don't really mind the snare in Spl9 though, what i do mind are all the weak breakbeat samples that dominate tracks like Vekos, and Jatavee-c. It's especially weird since AE knows what a good drum sound is. They have a wide knowledge of hiphop drum breaks, and just played hundreds of songs on the broadcast that have superior sounding sampled drums. Do not understand

Perhaps your perspective is just different.

Perhaps they were aiming to frustrate the unmalleable.

Perhaps they just wanted to be smart-alecks.

Perhaps they liked what happened when they mixed irreverence with reverence.

Perhaps they felt like tagging the walls they helped build.

Many people find graffiti distasteful.

The sort of tape rewind sounds that kick in and work with the kick drums at 02:15 completely make the track for me. The first time I heard it I loved it and that hasn't waned a huge amount. Plus I like the monged sort of melody that runs throughout the track, it's obnoxious but works so well.

cloudline falls into some pretty sweet grooves in its first half...lots of small melodies work in with the drums in really tight intricate ways. the problem (perhaps?) is that those things don't stick, they're very fleeting. and the second half of the track isn't doing much for me at the moment. but i haven't been blaring this constantly either. i also enjoyed it more on headphones than i have on stereo, if you haven't tried that theSun

cloudline was a slow grower as was runrepik.

im not understanding the deco loc love. if it was about 2 minutes, maybe i could see it. it feels so out of place to me, and goes nowhere.
