Listening to this all week, Dye The Water Green is a great tune, i think Look at Orion! could be the next single or even a remix for the dance floor, its the hardest on it. Business Park could almost be Legowelt the way it kicks off.

Theres an almost Nick Drake vibe to some of the acoustic/vocal parts too.

Some clever stuff going on, very very neat basslines too.

Yea the vinyl and artwork is nice, was reading how he made it, using an overhead projector, glass tray filled with water and fishing flies etc quite simple and effective.

A clever bio bibio, well done to him. one of the more interesting and creative albums this year imo.

Can anyone confirm - does the vinyl come with MP3 download codes inside? I just looked at it in the shop and it didn't say anything about this.

Would like to be able to listen to it whilst on holiday as well as it home.

All Warp releases usually come with a download card, so you should be alright.

True, but they also usually have a sticker on the front confirming it to be the case.

Any purchases please verify. Thanks.

Just a thought... why not just order the 12" from bleep and get your download immediately....?

Nah, you're a wee child who can't wait for official release. Embarrassing. Shove your privilege.

Because I can get the vinyl from a couple of shops l in Manchester city centre (where I am currently working).

Doing this saves on postage costs and also means I can pick up the record in about an hour.

If the record doesn't come with the download, it just gives me a reason to buy the CD, which is cheaper anyway.

fair enough. I'm pretty sure it will come with the download!

lol, I didn't buy it anyway. Can't decide between this and Darkstar News From Nowhere (and can't afford / don't really need both atm).

So I left with nothing!

I got the vinyl from Bleep. The record was sealed with no mention of a download coupon but there was one inside.

News from Nowhere is good, but Silver Wilkinson is much better.

First listen, on track 9 and so far I'm liking it a lot. Nice to hear that there are fewer vocals. Very pleasing after Mind Bokeh which I felt was a little overblown in parts. Though now I feel compelled to have another listen to that one, when this is done.

I just played Mind Bokah again and at first I wondered why I rated it so low (3/5) but then I started to realize especially in the second half - there's just too much cheese.

It seems interesting for Bibio to just dive into melancholy on the first few tracks, usually his albums just seem to start off sunny and go from there. I was initially a little bummed but after a couple listens this is just perfect, and I love the flow of the album. Some real stunners on here, and probably my favorite album of his since VtC!

As usual, the pitchfork review of this album is annoying. I really hate (a) how lazy reviewers love to point out the Bibio-Boards connection, and (b) how many reviewers on pitchfork talk about the need for surprise or change. With respect to (a), I think they make this out to be more than it is. While it is clear that BOC has a large influence on Bibio's sound and career, he clearly has more influences than just that one duo. With regard to (b), reviewers seem to demand that artists try something new more than the fans. While I think some amount of surprise is a good thing, I'm not confident that the reviewers are paying attention to the sorts of subtleties that are involved with the artist honing his craft; rather, they seem to want very overt surprises. I've argued this elsewhere, but that idea goes against the common-sense backbone of much of the professional, academic, and artistic worlds--specialization.

I agree. That's why I stopped giving a squirt-o-shit about pitchfork reviews. The reviewers area lazy and it causes some discolouration about the albums....

It's too bad that lots of people probably read the reviews and don't buy albums based on them. =(

Every time I read a pitchfork review I feel like it ruins things for me for a brief moment. It's annoying, so I've stopped reading most if any reviews on my favorite artists and releases.

Same goes for this album. I really love it and think it's one of his best works yet, and I haven't read any reviews on it because I just know they're gonna tear it apart with no real reason other than vague, almost irrelevant and biased points. And yeah "discolouration" is the right word I was thinking of...

I didn't think people still actually decided whether to buy an album or not based on some review(s). It really is too bad, it's their loss...

It's interesting how mellow this album starts, and how much more engaging it is in the second half. I'm not yet sure if this is a complaint or not. I do enjoy the material, it just seems weird to start with so many of the mellow tracks. I wouldn't necessarily want something alternates between mellow and engaging, this does have a flow. Just an early observation I guess (2nd listen).
