Head Like A Hole/Call Me Maybe Mashup

Nice little mashup of a crappy pop song and an early industrial classic:

[sc5]81761778[/sc5]

Let me also use this as an opportunity to remind everyone to use the SoundCloud HTML 5 player tag rather than letting the Media tag embed the Flash version, which slows down the forum for users on slower computers, not to mention it displays the artwork for the track and artist info.

To use it, all you need to do is on a SoundCloud page is click the 'share' link, then under the WordPress Code section, simply copy the song ID in the API URL - just the ID, not the whole URL:

soundcloud url="http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/81761778

Then, simply wrap it using the sc5 tags, or from the Special BBCode button (next to the eraser at the top of the editor toolbar) find the SoundCloud HTML 5 player and then paste in the code.

Yeah, if you're a 13 year old girl.

This is actually very appropriate mash-up for reasons probably not known to many... Did you know call me maybe was produced by Dave "Rave" Ogilvie, who mixed for NIN, Skinny Puppy, Einsturzende Nebauten, and The Birthday Massacre back in the day?

More about it here...

:music:

I remember getting into Pretty Hate Machine before I even knew the Warp label existed. Brings me WAY back.

Good mashup!

wow. i'm almost impressed that he produced this... had no idea. great post!

I actually really like that song. It has a great call-and-response thing going on in the chorus between the vocal and the instrumentation.

Love the mashup too. Probably one of the best mashups I've heard, actually.

It's a well produced, catchy tune! Nothing wrong with it, I genuinely like it. There's room in the world for that and the latest twenty billion hour long Autechre web broadcast

what's amazing about this is that it actually manages to sound less cheesy and cringe-worthy than the new NIN project How to Destroy Angels. Who would've thought!

Agreed! I used to love mash-ups - listened to just about Radio Soulwax mix back in the day. Made a bunch myself using a demo version of ejay dj mixer and mp3s, all of which are one a broken hard drive somewhere in my closet...

My favourite mashup by far would have to be the one someone here suggested. Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill vs Autechre's Pen Expers. Start them both at the same time and you barely have to do anything to keep them in sync!

I put this on my Facebook yesterday, and only one person liked it.

Same.

Facebook is more oriented towards food, intimacy, and cute stuff I think, not so much music.

I didn't like Call Me Maybe to begin with, but attending Roskilde Festival last year cemented my association between it and complete despair. All those happy campers and all their iPods and elaborate ghetto blasters and speaker stacks on wheels, DIY kits assembled especially for the festival... all so they could blast Call Me Maybe five thousand times a day, for eight days.

Great mashup though, the right kind of humorous disjoint. Up there with

for me. Edited by net

Of course it's a banger, it was produced like an industrial song (see the article I posted)

Most uncreative nine inch nails mash I've ever heard. Quite literally every other NIN mash I've ever had the pleasure w/ has been better, even this:

and this:

There was this one that had the lyrics of Only and the beats of Missy Elliot "Pass That Dutch" and it was amazing but I've not found it since hearing on the radio.

Fuck this Call Me Maybe sad attempt.

...and that producer should off himself. What a desperate bitch.

I actually like it because it's so effortless.

And what's wrong with being a pop producer? I'd jump at the chance to be able to use some of my production chops in pop music.

Wow, I can't believe Rave produced Call Me Maybe! I was wondering what he was upto these days. I'm a huge Skinny Puppy fan and love early NIN.

Weird.
