I think the best part about it is that, because HLAH has such a dark sound and a pentatonic mode, you don't notice that the verses are actually 'major' in key, and the music of CMM brings that out to hilarious results.

Thanks. I think by playing the minor over it's relative major tricks you into hearing it as major. It's commonly used in mashups and doesn't always work but I think it can produce the same effect as this without changing notes...

I was on about the NIN pre-pre-chorus, the "no you can't take it" part. Altho, I'd have called that the bridge and thought head like a hole has a double chorus but I've heard people calling the "head like a hole" parts the pre-chorus but like you say the chorus usually has the title in it.

If anyone's still interested here's how little work I put in :) ...

Yeah, I would say (again showing the structural similarity that makes the mashup a success) that the 'No you can't take it' is, like the 'your stare was holding,' the pre-chorus; the 'HLAH' is, like the 'Hay ...' part, the chorus, and then the 'Bow down' is, like the 'Before you came into my face' part, the whatever-its-called.

So here's the karma revenge for all my internet shit talk. The guy who does the mash-up shows up here to read it all (I'll address this in a separate or continued post), and then just yesterday Carly Rae Jepsen and her backup band come into my Starbucks (obviously to confront me) and order a entourage worth of drinks, and I didn't even know who she was. You could tell they were some kind of band but she had sunglasses on too. I kind of kept messing up her drink order because I was too mesmerized by her awesome 80's girl hat. Found out later on the news who it was. Apparently some local high school had won a contest for a concert by her so they vaned it up here from LA for that.

What's next, am I going to run into Reznor and have him challenge me to an arm wrestling contest where I lose horribly?

Also apparently Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer has been in to that Starbucks before just to used the bathroom, but I've only been there like a month.

K to pomDeter, I think my feelings were basically rooted in all of the hype this got over NIN mash-ups I felt a not more work and thought had been put into. I'm happy to hear that it was just some quick slapdash event you did. These internet hits just get out of had sometimes, but good on you for getting one. I'll probably never see that myself. So sorry for any harsh words.

I'll work on doing better w/ the criticism.
