Scaneye does not track IP addresses from this country

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

LOL, apparently somebody in this house downloaded "Metallica: The Greatest Hits" back in January. LOL. Lol.

You can be sure that no automated process discovered this. This was Lars Ulrich himself furiously scribbling down your IP on a notepad sitting on his floor tom while he monitors all P2P traffic in the world from his snare laptop.

Way back in the late 90s I got banned from the original Napster in the first wave of Metallica bannings - I only had one Metallica song and it was their cover of "Whiskey in the Jar". Cnuts.

in my country everybody torrents, even cops. I bet half of them don't know it's actually illegal

same, the tv commercials for isp's literally advertise fast downloading speeds for movies, some even using particular movies titles.

You can find out if you've torrented something by simply Googling your IP and add the word "torrent" behind it, e.g.: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx torrent - safer than going to some website that is probably recording your IP in some lame money making attempt of selling the list to the media giants...

yes Joyboss, but I think the idea behind the website is if you've been caught or noticed torrenting. Of course we would know if we've torrented something, since we have to install the torrent client and then find a torrent etc...!

For example I've torrented a couple dozen things, but I don't show up on the site.

Nah, you're a wee child who can't wait for official release. Embarrassing. Shove your privilege.

Site says i dled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, which I didn't...Either this site, or the methods they use to track torrents, is quite dodgy.

IIRC they can only track downloaders of a certain torrent when they are seeding this torrent themselves. So you'll probably only show up if you've downloaded a popular movie or something.

according to that site nothing, although i've received multiple warnings from my isp on behalf of hbo for downloading various seasons of game of thrones.

Well it looks like it only tracks by IP... most residential internet connections have dynamic public IPs. So you probably got flagged on another IP which probably belongs to someone else by now.

ive heard usenet groups is the way to go

Don't you have to pay for that though?

I've just switched from Sky to BT broadband - just realised they throttle your bandwidth for torrent clients during the day. My downloading days are over :(

I was caught torrenting a porno on my personal computer at university once. Needless to say, I had to meet with some girl who was like my age about file sharing and the title of the movie was incredibly vulgar. Most embarrassing thing to happen in my life

there are ways to get around that ISP throttling, no?

I did try a couple of suggestions after some brief research, but had no joy. If your good self or anyone else knows how to work around it then answers on a postcard please.

torrenting can be used for completely legal stuff as well, so isn't it illegal for them to throttle it like that ? do they even acknowledge that they do it ?
