New consoles/E3 2013 thread

until there are games I 'must' have and the price comes down under £200 I'm sticking with what I've got (PS3) and polish off the gems I've missed for cheap.

I've got that PS+ subscription and, being a hoarder, download everything. That'll keep me going long enough until the new one comes down in price, or at least the games do.

Yeah the PS3 will be around for a while anyway. There are some top notch releases already this year, and will be more by the end of this year, i.e. The Last of Us, and Gran Turismo 6 was just announced, to name a few. I actually have only had a PS3 since November, so I'm in no rush to purchase a new console. I know when my friends get a PS4 though, that I will be mad jealous.

Will the next gen just look like a really high end gaming pc? or better?

In time they will look better than current generation PC titles. Graphics are not just improving because the hardware is getting better. Just compare X360 launch titles with something like Metro: Last Light. A lot of the games released for the PC have asset pipelines geared towards console specs so multiplatform titles will become significantly better looking on the PC as well.

The memory upgrade is really significant. We are going from 512MB to 8GB of internal memory! The current memory restraints are absurd for 2013.

Best thing about new consoles is that us PC gamers will have games that were written for slightly old technology rather than ancient technology.
