That looks like an Empire Strikes Back prop.

And I'm a little ashamed that I... kind of like it.

The cylinder shape is a little weird for something that's supposed to be modular, though, innit?

What is it actually meant to be ? (serious question, no idea about the world of macs)

It's the new mac pro case design, which will be coming out this year after a long period of apple neglecting to even modestly update the mac pro. It's pretty tiny compared to the current oversized aluminum mac pro cases, but it's supposed to have high-bandwidth external expandability via Thunderbolt 2 (20 Gbit/s, IIRC).

I expected OS X: Deer.

But seriously who gives a shit about the name, mountain lion or snow leopard arent that great of names, who cares. I mean, Autechre what does that even mean.

As in a new one of these ?

Wasn't the point of the old big design so you could fit in lots of extra hardware cards and drives etc. - So now it'll all be external everything ?

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I always thought it stood for AUral TEsticle CHafing REport.

Edit: yeah, it looks like there is some internal expandability, too. Not a lot of details yet. Probably going to make plenty of actual pros angry, but I dunno.

Yes, but really - off the top of my head besides video cards or a PCI card (Firewire, etc.) what would you actually put in it?

Bet they start calling it the iBin :emotawesomepm9:

yeah i wrongly thought the term 'pro' meant no kiddie bullshit external devices. I guess apple forgot that most 'pros' don't care about having a tiny little computer that looks likes a prop from a movie. I would have rather them just discontinued the pro like was rumored. I will never forgive apple for stopping the 17" mac book pros

i loaded my mac pro with sata hard drives, looks like with this that would be impossible and you'd have to resort to external connections, which sounds shitty to me

I dunno but I love thin fonts. I don't usually have too much trouble reading them.

I like them actually, it's just a bit annoying seeing companies copy each other and call it intuitive design ( actually I never watched apple's keynote but I'm more than willing to bet that's the exact two words used by tim cook )

edit: think i got that definition rong

Thank the maker - brightness adjust on the lock screen... FINALLY

been doing this with a much cleaner interface using sbsettings for years.

I think it looks really weird. What's up with that fat little down arrow to indicate it can be swiped down? Or the fat line styles in between the sections. Or the weather app which has lower contrast when it's sunny than when it's raining. A lot of ugly and unclear icons as well. I'm an avid Apple hater so I'm not very objective on all this but it's good to see Apple make products that don't just work like shit, but look like it too... ;)

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.
