Yeah, that was on par with the Albright comment about iraqi children. She is a megabitch.

oh awesome, laugh when you conspire to commit murder and succeed. way to go. be proud.

Did anyone read through the Winston Churchill article? Relevant to Russia's situation today and the situation in Syria. Very similar to what Putin must consider? Get the differences today?

Key for me is this quote:

  Quote
"The Lord deals with the nations as the nations deal with the Jews." Certainly when we look at the miserable state of Russia, where of all countries in the world the Jews were the most cruelly treated, and contrast it with the fortunes of our own country, which seems to have been so providentially preserved amid the awful perils of these times, we must admit that nothing that has since happened in the history of the world has falsified the truth of Disraeli's confident assertion."

It's true that Britain did well as long as it supported jews. It's true that Russia was committing government sponsored pogroms before communism achieved power. So this is true isn't it? Disraeli and Churchill were right.

Serious question: does WATMM believe that God is real and He favours the chosen people? God favours those who will support jews and protect them? Do you agree? Is it real or is the big bang real (big bang theory = a long time ago there were lots of things and then they started to move and they didn't ever stop moving)? Then, even if you believe that God is real, that jews are a special chosen people by God, and it's right for Syria to become a part of a greater jewish state of Israel. Then is it still OK to use any means necessary to achieve that goal? Does it mean that God gives us permission to conduct a war using any tactics regardless of any moral considerations, including false media reports, committing murder then blaming it on innocents, bombing, gassing, using chemical weapons, importing foreign jihadis and gang members.... are they all OK tactics? there is no room to discuss HOW to achieve the great new state? That there might be a better way to build greater israel than the current policies of france, england, and america currently are trying and failing to achieve? Is it a mass delusion or is God real? Honest questions here. Or is it totally wrong to even point out what's happening? Is it a taboo to point out the genuine reasons and motivations for the war in Syria?

The kick gets me every time. I admittedly feel somewhat ashamed for not understanding Arabic tho.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Are you actually citing the Mail as a reputable source?

Oh I thought you were one of those loons who was using that article as an excuse to kick Muslims into jail.

Yes, agree, ISIS is a bunch of extremists, who would be far worse for the region in the long run than Assad. Assad definitely needs to go though, but there's no suitable candidate to replace him at the moment unfortunately.

Yea. Though I have low expectations about the new government. Assad government was bad. But I don’t expect the new one will be much better. We should be happy if it moves in the general direction of democracy, I guess. Small steps…

surprised iran is silent, btw. Guess it has plenty to worry about on the front of israel and had to let go support for assad.

the middle east is a shit show. And will probably keep on being so for a long time

it's been a long messy destructive and violent civil war with outsiders putting their thumbs on the scale at different times..  sounds like the existing power structure is willing to work with whatever the people want but no telling how that will go and whose thumbs will weight the scale then.

kind of wild that the US tried unsuccessfully to do regime change on Assad for years and then it happens in a 10 day period at the very end biden's presidential term. Israel has already seized land in Syria on their border, creating a 'temporary buffer zone.'

I have been following news stories and it looks like the rebels did not even have to do any significant fighting to take those cities. This most likely means that the official Syrian army, the one backing Assad, just stood down. I wonder if there were talks leading up to this between the central players (Russia, Turkey, Israel, US). This absolutely a tactical victory for Israel and America, as it cuts off Iranian support to palestine via Lebanon through Syria. Russia has two military bases in Syria, wonder what will happen to those. It sucks that regular Syrian citizens seem to have to pay the price for all of these power games that are out of their control.

The current defacto leader of Syria is Jolani, who was an ISIS soldier for 6 years. He leads an organization, HTS, that is an offshoot of al qaeda, the group that attacked America on 9/11. America has a 10 million bounty on this man:

He apparently has changed his ways since 2017, though, and his days of hardhitting islamist terrorist activity is over. I just hope he is the man to bring democracy to Syria finally and also a pluralistic, multicultural society. Judging from Western coverage of the story, I think this is likely:

CNN did an interview with him during the offensive:

I am so glad that they clarified what his pronouns are. That's neat! Maybe we can finally get the islamist institutions we have all been waiting for, the ones that put a premium on lgbtq+ rights and inclusion. Not only is he progressive politically, but he is no stranger to the arts and is in fact an avant garde filmmaker (so cool!). He did a bunch of documentaries about beheading infidels. I have not seen them yet but I hear good things!

Joking aside I hope that this somehow pans out in a positive direction for Syrians, but I am definitely skeptical. As bad as Assad was, there is a good chance that these guys will either be worse or that they will eventually be the ones attacking America and other western countries directly (and Europe is closer than America to them). It has happened before:
