My roommates and I tried showing this to a group a friends....They didn't give this movie a chance. One, right from the get go, started playing with his phone throughout the film. The other wasn't really watching all that much making gestures like he was bored such as head almost looking at the floor. We stopped it around the first time we see the police station.

Now, grant it that this movie isn't for everyone, but its the same group of guys that didn't laugh one bit at Beetlejuice (they never seen it but played with their phones instead).

Granted, your friends sound like assholes. But, really, if you invited me to watch Killer Klowns or Beetlejuice, I'd be doing the same thing. And I don't even have a smartphone.

great staying within the direction. He wanted that take to be it. Didn't even reach for his dome, which looks like it would have been painful. Maybe he concussed himself & wasn't quite there.

I think so, that looks like genuine pain to me. If you acted that scene you deffo would have rubbed your eye - he didn't know what the fuck to do after that shocker.
