Still trying to decide if I should upgrade from Mountain Lion on my 2009 macbook pro. I'm pretty happy with ML, apart from some keyboard focus issues.

I think the upgrade is only free if you have Snow Leopard on there - that's what I took from what I've read anyway.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I'm going to try to get them to give me this for free since I accidentally bought Lion even though I was told it would be on my computer.

I've had zero issues like that on my mid 2012 15". I can't say it feels faster but it's not any slower than 10.8.5.

Yeah, so much for less skeuomorphism...

I've installed it, and haven't played with it too much - really really annoying it apparently uninstalls Java and Flash. At least you can show the Libraries now with a checkbox rather than having to run Terminal commands to restore it. Microsoft must be watching Apple, because in Windows 8.1 they've hidden their libraries link now.

And I HATE the name - Mavericks - this is an OS, not fucking Top Gun (yes, I know it's named after dangerous waves, etc.)

Anyways, hopefully this is the last of OS X and the next one will be OS 11 (which will adopt the iOS look and feel)

Come on jr you know you'd be apple's wingman... any time.

Don't get me wrong; I like Apple and their products, but this whole "you can't upgrade" business with the MBPw/R pisses me off - I have a 2011 MBP, and I cannot tell you how much of a difference 16GB of RAM has made over the stock 4GB it came with. I was really wanting a Retina display, but it looks like either a Mac Mini or iMac 27" will be my next machine (unless I decide to take the plunge and build a Hackintosh at long last) so I can get the stupidly high resolution I want.

I would definitely buy a 27" imac if I could. I use one at work and it is hands down the most beautiful piece of computing equipment I've seen.

That's actually a really fucking awesome addition. Would love that to have been added in Windows 8.1, oh well...
