to those of you who say "generative music is boring by itself", well.. no it isn't, if you're interested in processes and stuff.

sure it's interesting, and quite poetic in a way when you think about what the algorithms are derived from (they talked about Moire, Markov's chain, Navier Stokes...), but i'm pretty sure it would be insanely boring if they just did hit "play" and let the software make the whole track itself. they're definitely shaping everything.

i've actually installed the Max trial (like pretty much all of you i guess) and started making patches, just to see what it's like, this thing is crazy and inspiring, even though i have no desire to make IDM.

yeah but the bounds are kinda blurry innit.... writing (or rather patching, lel) the software... adjusting parameters....curating the output.......rewriting the software......

it's ALL part of a cybernetic feedback loop..... i mean they say they're not interested in academic wankery.. sean i think said literally that he only cares about the output... still, all the software & gear they use is like a 3rd actor in this play... so defo interesting to hear more about that one too, imo. (i mean from another perspective than listening to the end result..)

of course, like most, i was listening to autechre all week. it all seemed less robotic because they were being so genuine and cool. i never thought it could happen, but their music just got even better for me.

Yeah same. It was really great to have some of my hunches confirmed. Like the big interest in Depeche Mode (and somewhat obvious influence on their melodies).

I love that they somewhat confirmed that the exai/L event covers actually have the name embedded into the art by acknowledging jules' thankyou art.

And yeah, all of the stuff they said in reply to me, of course. Total awesome guys.

why not do a WATMM autechre tribute album? we could use Jules' thank you pic as the album cover.

That's actually a pretty good idea.

for real, not sure why they were so weirded out by it, in a way I guess it shows their modesty, that they just don't feel comfortable with the idea that someone would give them that sort of power. But if they put themselves in my shoes and had the opportunity to get a baby name from say, Depeche Mode or David Lynch, they might be stoked at the thought. For me a name isn't that big a deal, most are meaningless, hence why it'd be cool to have a backstory to go with it. I was asking for a normal-ish name, not v-proc or something that'd scar the kid for life. Ah well.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

Ahh, there you go. Sweet.

they should substitute those for the real covers

"OK, so you have not repaired the washing machine then. Its ooo for five days now!!!"
