I would be surprised if the single off this "album" would be a track featuring another artist - Richard or not.

 

I would be surprised if it weren't Aphex Twin. Literally every sign points toward it. I don't see much reason why not, and I'm not even really an Aphex fan either, so it's not just blind hopes. And as much as so many people want Aphex Twin to hate Die Antwoord, it's pretty clear that he doesn't since he's already worked with them.

 

Why would Die Antwoord make their single (featuring another artist, not to mention one far larger than them) from the album NOT be showcasing their work as DA? Unless of course they realize that Aphex is a draw, then it makes perfect (business) sense. I just don't see Richard going for something like that (I am probably wrong though).

It's because he doesn't want to acknowledge that any band/artist he doesn't like actually makes legitimate music. As much as I like Joyrex most of the time, that one thing offends me to no end.

 

It's an opinion, nothing more - I'd rather express my distaste for something with a subtle jab like that instead of being crude about it.

As to people here being negative all the time suggestion from the previous page, we have all sorts here and with a mix of musical interests. You are always going to find someone not liking the same thing that you do or thinking that an artist is making the wrong choice or the right choice or not caring or thinking that the artist isn't even involved at all.

Yeah I sort of agree, I'm not sure why any of it is happening, but I just think it's pretty obvious that it's going to happen. Or already has happened or whatever. I mean, it's not exactly circa 2010 BoC album hype; they posted a picture of Ninja's Aphex tattoo along with saying they are working with someone cool and they've worked with Aphex before and one of the tracks says "ft A_ _ _X T_ _ _". It's hard to imagine a sequence of events where that track will not be ft Aphex Twin (unless it is Ampex Tape, as LUDD suggested).

Would be great if Aphex used it as a platform to reinvent his image, and dominant electronic music again. He could be all swag and shit with DA.

I don't see why people are confused why DA would do this. I mean... they'd just have a guest producer, one who are they well known to dig.

Artists collaborate all the time. Rappers get people to make them beats all the time. Obviously this has only been hinted at so maybe it won't, but I don't think there's any reason to doubt that it'll happen.

You are missing the point - none of these artists, Richard included ever wanted (or needed) fame, celebrity, etc. - they just want to make a decent living from doing something they love, which is making music. The fact that Richard is semi-known outside of electronic music circles is mostly because of mainstream artists recognizing his talents and bringing attention to him and his music that I would suspect frankly he'd rather do without.

Even if Richard came out with a new Aphex Twin album, do you think it would make mainstream news? Of course not (it would be nice, though). That's why I find this supposed "collaboration" a bit off, if not true altogether.
