He wanted to portray Drukqs as a throwaway record though, with the mp3-player-forgotten-on-a-plane story and everything.

I really hope you're trying to be funny, since that whole "lost mp3 player" story was a bunch of bollocks.

I'm not trying to be funny. Did you not understand what I wrote? The important words were "wanted to portray". Of course that story was a lie, but it's still his official tale about the motivation for releasing the album, and how it was "curated". That was the one thing that stuck with me from reading interviews with him around the release, at least.

If you know interviews where he states that he slaved and agonized over the album for years, that he had to kill tons of darlings to fit the double album format, and that the selection and sequencing of tracks went through many, many iterations, then I'd like to read it. And that's probably a lot closer to the truth. :-)

My original point being: You can't pretend to be all Laissez-faire and nonchalant about your art, and then feel hurt because people don't appreciate all the effort you put into making it.

I think you're taking a throwaway comment to some journo that probably pissed him off and assume that Richard always portrayed DrukQs to be a "throwaway" album. Doesn't quite jive with the deluxe version, the limited 180G version, etc. Yes, I know WARP probably had more to do with that ($$$) than Richard, but still.

Smojphace == throwaway (and you really should)

DrukQs == Richard's (probably in his eyes anyways) crowning achievement of his musical career

Sorry chaps I'm getting bored of talking about the Antipodean tat's. It's not news worthy.

In otherwords I don't give a fuck.

you think they really might be fake? i don't really know about the current state of fake tat technology, but it seems like it'd be awful hard/time consuming to reapply them over and over and over and always in the same spot when there are several pics taken of you on the regular and someone could compare and spot any slight inconsistencies (wonder if anyone has checked)... the more he adds the harder it would be, too

it would be kinda hilarious if he shifted into another persona and had no tats again suddenly

i don't know if that would be any better or worse than actually having a bunch of 'jailhouse' tats you didn't actually get in jail, just to look like a mangy white trash reject to help you peddle your wares. the wares being rap songs about ninjas, buttsex with ex-cons, african circumcisions, and not liking lady gaga

all that said i still kinda dig DA. well, the idea of them at least (not that anyone but them know what the idea actually is). and i indulge in the occasional DA youtube binge

I'd like to bet that they tried a bunch of stuff, but when die Antwoord went big they fully committed to it.

But I agree it would be awesome if the tats randomly disappeared and Watkin was suddenly someone else.

thats what im assuming. but IWC's assurance that the tats may be fake actually has me ever so slightly interested in the possibility that they actually are....

maybe there's some radical new fake tat technology that made it all possible

ninja's tats are real. waddy is crazy.

No contradiction.

Where's my alexx taco gone to?

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Wasn't Moon Love a track from Good Morning South Africa?

Cool if they dig some oldies up

Good catch! Good Morning South Africa is a pretty great album, with many worthy songs. Moon Love is a strange choice if indeed it is the same track. The past has shown they aren't afraid to rework old tracks - See: Super Evil and Eat Meat. Rap Rave Megamix and Beat Boy.

i listened to some of their vids on youtube & imma be honest it's pretty swack (sweet + wack, original phrase do not steal). Would be up for listening even if the taco man wasn't involved
