this surely can't be the most expensive album ever.. ???

Nah, I thought it was a signed copy of Double Fantasy from the night Lennon was killed.

lol yea.

but seriously, where is the extra cash going? I'm confused with who gets what before and after this gets sold on eBay.

At this point, it's likely that the seller will get his negotiated price he asked for, and minus the costs to host and distribute the tracks and the costs to professional transfer this from vinyl, the rest goes to Rephlex/Richard. Of course, this is subject to change, and there are a lot of things in flux right now, so rest assured an official statement will be forthcoming once we iron everything out (what complicates this is the possibility of a CD or vinyl pressing, etc.) Just too much right now to say since I don't think anybody anticipated this kind of response.

if, after this, rich still hoards music with no release ever, i will be convinced that he truly doesnt care about money

of course the fact that this is happening proves otherwise

Well, thinking about the idea of an official limited vinyl release wouldn't be the worst- remember Lego feet reissuing their first album with bonus material in a nice edition? Maybe someone could do an inlay with the story behind how this was done and worked out.

Just a thought, have not forgotten that the album was planned and scrapped firstly.

See, told you not to just limit to 600 buyers, especially it's digital download. People pay for digital downloads anyways, even when the music is being pirated. Support the artists you love. Of course, a physical copy (CD/vinyl) would've been better though.

That's not too bad... compared to say the hateful ignorance over at xlt, or the insane amounts of butthurt over at Fred's Island for Misfit Toys™...

Super LOL @ the guy who wants 'proof' - does he really think I would stick my neck out like this to publically scam 90% of my own forum members? How some people think...

Totally. It amuses me some dude on the internet dismisses "some dude on the internet"

I forget about xltronic's boards...lol...I started an account there the same day I started one with WATMM...hardly went there after a handful of posts

At this point I have three facilities I am considering (two recommended by Grant - guys who were originally part of the "Porky Prime Cuts" crew, and the outfit x_y politics recommended - it's looking likely we'll end up using the x_y politics recommended one (Grant is impressed by his equipment/setup).

Reddit, a place where it took far longer for the admins to get rid of CP than someone posting buttcracks of fat neckbeards playing Magic the Gathering.

the biggest illusion is yourself

unfortuantely this will be on What within an hour of release, the bounty will be too big for someone not to bite.

Positive Metal Attitude

There's a three dimensional Charlie & the Chocolate Factory movie projecting toward all directions in my head.

It would be naive to think otherwise, but the intention was/is to ensure folks have the opportunity to show their support, knowing that they will contribute towards the release and feel like they made it happen. The fact that the kickstarter has wildly exceeded anyone's expectations is the best outcome of all (short of receiving the actual end product, of course), as it demonstrates that people are prepared to pay for something, even when they could just obtain it easily for free.

The old ways of the music industry that we've all known and grown up around may well be dying on their arse, but this heralds an interesting new method of how music can be paid for and distributed to the public. I'm not saying every future new release potentially promoted in this way is going to achieve the dizzy heights of a decades-old release from RDJ, with all the excitement that comes with it.. but it poses an interesting stepping point for how to get music out there, and ultimately a better way to reward an artist more directly than ever before.

My $16 was out of a need to make this happen above all else. Since I almost always buy physical formats, I'm going to make a personal tape copy with silly j-card art for fun.

Also, I haven't been able to buy a RDJ album directly since Analord. Few here has directly paid for the entire discography so this is a way of doing so in terms of payback. This is very much a fan gesture in the end.

geisha+fan.gif

Not a fan gesture like a Geisha

Like fan as in people, not like an actual fan for blowing.

I mean blowing air, not a fan who will blow.

I'll stop.
