Elem Klimov -  Иди и смотри (Come and See), 1985. One of the most intense depictions of the horrors of war, ever. It's beautifully horrible, disturbing, and disquieting. You can see it here.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

Steven Spielberg: Duel (1971). Spielberg's first movie, made for TV. Serendipitously I watched it just a few months ago, the first time I saw it, but the imagery stuck in my head. It's a watchable flick.

Horror movies are easy for me, I used to spend my time hunting down every obscure splatter/gore/horror flick there is.

So many favourites, Argento, Fulci, Bava, Guadagnino, Michele Soavi directing Argento-scripted La Chiesa... Romero, Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna, Hooper, Carpenter, Raimi, Barker, Crawen, Corman, Cronenberg - Lynch, even - Haneke, Ferrara... Ruggero Deodato. I could go on, just scratching the surface.

I’m woefully undereducated about European horror directors, but have been trying to catch up since the pandemic. Exploring Hammer has also been enjoyable.
