I think he just started to run out of money after years of not releasing anything and dug up some old tunes to release.

If the rumors are true and there's another full-length due shortly then hopefully that's the one that's got the choice material on it and this one's just for the synth nerds.

I wonder if Warp knew it was lackluster and that's why they felt they needed a blimp & street art campaign to sell it...

i can't fight it. I'm buying the vinyl and listening to it the whole way through, like back in the day. Remember that? Just gonna pray that my brain brought its dancing shoes, and remembers how to use them!

Well that’s strange. Throughout my lurking years I’ve felt that on WATMM you can throw your opinion freely without the fear of instant bashing. There will be counter arguments yes but that’s just natural. But has it really been so bad in some cases? I’ve taken those more as a tongue in cheek comments. Maybe people are just too Syroed out. I’m jumping here out of joy and I’ve yet to receive my own copy. Assuming that every person on this planet should enjoy this is little silly.

Eh, just in case you got me wrong I wasn’t trying to question your view but was simply considering it strange that there has been some more or less serious bashing. Rowing on personal opinions is a behavior which you could expect in kindergarten and not in the forum full of well mannered and highly civilized members . I bought the digital and have listened to it once so far. Too tussy and analordy for me overall but it has it's good bits. So IDK. I like both CIRCLONT tracks and aisatsana. 180db is quite terrible on the headphones at least tbh.

Was this album conceived and executed to be paint-by-numbers Aphex? It's like I ask myself how much more Aphex can it get? And the answer is none; none more Aphex.

btw, my 'review' of the release on the previous page was a quick attempt at the ultimate smackdown, my actual opinion is more tempered.

I like tracks 1-3 (a LOT!), but then it kind of descends into... stuff...for me. Like stuff I SHOULD like, but none of it connects for some reason. Some of it does sound great, some of it seems to have some really strange sonic choices (to these ears). Is that to do with mastering?

I am trying to enjoy more. It is very early days, and I want to like new Aphex Twin. But then I am also relieved he is releasing other stuff. I think if you like listening to analog synths and hiss a lot then you will enjoy this album. I want something sharp and mindmelting.

All of us can handle critical opinions. However, there is a large number of people just saying "it's dull flat plastic shitty music" and that's not critical at all. That's a troll style post. I for one find a few of that tracks mastered a little hot, and it bugs my ears. That's being "critical".

If the people that don't like it can elaborate beyond "afix twine is shit now analogue is shit and syro is shit it's not drukqs" then people would be more receptive to their posts.

Guess whose order had been postponed to next weeks friday This was the last time I'm going to pre order anything from Fin. Cancelled the whole thing and ordered it from Netherlands. With my luck it will have a comprehensive world tour before eventually dropping into my mail box.
