Yeah, I actually think that it's a very interesting concept. Say what you will about the actual art, the concept behind it is distinctive and unusual but thought provoking. It's not inspiring in the same way that ICBYD was to me back in the day (I mean, why is the barcode superimposed on this cool self-portrait? Is he saying something about his commercialism?), but it inspiring to me the way he still thinks so differently from most musicians, even all these years later. The concept behind it is very interesting.

Also, thanks Jan for the improved translation!

Herr Jan, let's edit the original post to keep things in order..!

Anything besides the Rolling Stone interview that's new since sunday? Was AFK for a few days so I'm trying to keep up with all the Syrochaos.

Part 2 of the outtakes of the Oor interview (the full interview - without these parts - will be in the magazine next thursday)

http://oor.nl/#!/articles/aphex_bonus_beats_2_meer_interview_outtakes/feature

I'll try and translate it asap, but it's a long ass interview. It needs to be said that this is one of the better Aphex interviews I have ever read, A+ questions (finally someone who recognizes Luke Vibert as a huge influence on Aphex), a really open harted Richard speaking about chemtrails and plans to release tons of music in the near future :)

Shame we can't just have Richard's actual english interview rather than having this parsed through two translations. Ahh well, at least it's someone pretty reliable doing it. And on top if that the dutch are renowned for their english competency so the original translation will be quite a clean source for Herr Jan to be working from.

As with others, i'm also quite excited by the length of the interview, and the fact that it seems to cover a lot of ground. Looking forward to reading it muchly indeed. [-;

love this part (from bad google translation) I've experienced the same thing..

Of the best songs I often do not even know when I made them, they are the tracks at the time not really noticed me. And that's scary because those are usually also the tracks I easily lose

woah chemtrail part is unexpected, huh

this part seems to translate surprisingly well though

I fear that the world may perish. Simply tomorrow That feeling gets stronger and stronger. We all plunge into chaos. That's why I try to enjoy it. Every minute of my life I sit here in this chic hotel with stunning views over Westminster

You can figure it out pretty good with the google translate. A few juicy things in there.

Reading the google translate actually feels sort of appropriate ...

It reads like the press write up for Syro :)

yeah, was surprised about the chemtrail bit as well. but hey, at least he's opened up a bit. can't be too judgemental about that, even if i want to. just glad he's back!

on a tangent: regardless of all the "i don't care about what people think/hate fans"-stuff, the kickstarter was the drup in the bucket which got him to release new stuff again. he cares... :)

"I'm in that mode now, so hopefully I'll stay in it for a while. I've got a few more things planned – at least a couple more albums, some EPs, things like that. Some more dance-y things I did about 10 years ago. Experimental things, noise things, weird things. Shitloads of stuff. They're all pretty much ready to go."

Yes please.

Didn't he say in a recent interview (rolling stone I believe) that he gave the syro tracks to warp six months ago? That would mean march / april, before the kickstarter deal.

wow, he confirmed he is the Tuss

Songs composed of large array of analogue synths and drums + aphex style vocoders + automated piano, on rephlex records, published by chrysalis, and with song rights officially credited to Richard David James.

I mean.. it's not like actually anyone needed confirmation.. right? :)

You're absolutely right. This is what the interview in RS says:

But you must have known there's demand for your work. Earlier this year, people put together $67,000 on Kickstarter so they could download your unreleased 1994 album Caustic Window.

You know, that actually did kickstart me into action as well. As much as I like to think I don't really like fans – I mean, it's not very healthy. You can't be thinking about keeping other people happy, going in circles. But that was really touching, and really sweet. And I'm getting a bit older. It's like, "Okay. People out there really, really want stuff off me, so I can't deny it. Let's put it out."

Don't mind me... just posting here to keep tabs on this thread. I can't stomach another review from some musically illiterate journalist, but interviews with the twin are of great interest. Thanks for the translations, Herr Jan!
