Ill give it to you that your country and EU nations may *currently* - important word currently - have better conditions (re: healthcare, guns, etc) than any of the other super-powers. but the rest of your "list" (which is mostly half baked) is a poor foundation of your claim to "we're better than merka". poor because why? not because one can't even compare apples to apples like that, but because it's juvenile and pointless to do the whole "my country is better than yours". but this is light years off topic now.. my initial problem was yours and godel's kneejerk bashing of america as a country/people just moments after a massacre in our country. it's not like we dropped bombs on some country and then you posted fuck america, no you took the opportunity to kick someone when theyre down. so how do you think im gonna respond to that as someone who lives here? do you think i don't already realize how maddening gun culture is here?? are you that solipsistic to think that just because you live outside of america, you can see it "for what it truly is while we can't?", and even more absurd - that oh because you lived here for a bit that it all of the sudden makes you a cultural specialist on the states and the mindset of this nation? this is the problem with people generalizing -- whether it's nationality, race, gender, religion, orientation, etc etc -- and before you say but but world super power, okay, superpower number 3, check yourself before you get all conflict theory on superpower number 1 / 2. until we can recognize the problem of corruption and greed is one of humanity and knows no national boundaries or borders, we will be bickering and playing chess, wagging our own tales, and never getting quite at the issue. Also thank American Geezus that Alco is back re: money worship, see but you're not doing anything but fanning the flames by being okay with singling out america. one of the biggest reasons humanity is fucking helpless with fixing our own problems and working together is because we're so goddamn addicted to pointing fingers and name calling, whether it's at others or ourselves-- both just as bad. america will always be this big bad enemy to the rest of the world as long as people choose to view it as such. like almost all things, it's a problem of language and words, and when we fail to see that forever labeling america as the "superpower imperialist colonialist entity" / "evil empire" is just as damning as one labeling all muslims as terrorists or all native americans as alcoholics or all white christian men as misogynists and on and on and on, we forget about the bigger picture. before you say "jesus fucking christ, cry me a river, we're talking about countries here, who really holds their nation of origin as sensitively as that?"... I'll tell you who do does... backwards ignorant redneck fucks who many of you guys in this thread love to generalize america as. Because they have nothing to cling to, no identity except their guns, kfc, and middle america mindsets, and nobody to vouch for them as decent people except their little circle of merka first-ers. and ya know what fuels these people to take the wheel of our country in the form of voting for and supporting people like donald trump? sentiments like fuck merka. it's a vicious cycle. this is just an example of the power of words and generalizations. not trying to say that a post like yours is responsible for the alt right or anything, but an example to illustrate the power of words. i didn't see it myself for the longest time. hell, i was the one on this forum to lambaste obama for not saying the words "islamic extremism" on the world stage and calling it for what it is. while that's not a perfect example as i still think it is an accurate word to describe what it intends to describe, i understand and recognize that simply using a phrase like "religious extremism" in place when addressing the world, although may not satisfy the collective resolve for terror attacks and calling a spade a spade, it absolutely does just a tiny bit less to fuel the flames of jihadists around the world, and also keeps from marginalizing the already marginalized peace loving muslims around the world who want nothing to do with said phrase. So yeah, it's words, attitudes, and nuances that shape global affairs. chenGOD
I'll say one thing Americans have over the Brits - social mobility is much easier, because it revolves almost exclusively around money. Still though, both British and American Empires were driven by pursuit of wealth. Also Chinese conspicuous consumption is much more aggravating that that in the US.
