How does the World view America these days?

Yeah but when you talk to other forum members and reference america as ignorant fat greasy slobs, you put us in the same pool as trump supporters, alt right, and the worst of america. Forums like this are living proof (if you refuse to find other ways to demonstrate to yourself) that not all "merkans" are pieces of shit. In fact 95% of people i know here (and i even live in arizona) are compassionate, cultured, hard working people with a mostly liberal view of the world (ok maybe 90%). So you come off as a buffoon when you vomit nonsense like this. Critize our goverment, leaders, history, policies etc.. But you don't get to go off about how stupid / ignorant our entire way of life or attitude is from your glass house over there without expecting some pebbles chucked back at you. And dont bring up exceptionalism or obsession with money / greed bit unless youre prepared to tell me how giving, ego-less, and pure the ruling elite is in your neck of the woods.

ill throw lol's any day over pebbles. not looking to list off ills of the uk at the moment, i think theyre quite easy to find on a google search. your problem is here seems to lie with world superpowers and the corruption and greed of humanity. yes, america is the superpower of superpowers (though russia and china seem to be getting close to taking the torch there), but so is is the EU. Also cwm is 100% on the money about money worship. I thought I would get desensitized to it as I got older but it actually disgusts me more and more and I'm beginning to see it as the root cause of the vast majority of the bullshit that is wrong with this country and, by extension, the world. I really don't give a shit if he's singling out America for it because I see it god damn everywhere I go in this country and I didn't see it nearly as bad in Japan (sorry, those are the only 2 countries I'm really familiar with).

re: money worship, see but you're not doing anything but fanning the flames by being okay with singling out america. one of the biggest reasons humanity is fucking helpless with fixing our own problems and working together is because we're so goddamn addicted to pointing fingers and name calling, whether it's at others or ourselves-- both just as bad. america will always be this big bad enemy to the rest of the world as long as people choose to view it as such. like almost all things, it's a problem of language and words, and when we fail to see that forever labeling america as the "superpower imperialist colonialist entity" / "evil empire" is just as damning as one labeling all muslims as terrorists or all native americans as alcoholics or all white christian men as misogynists and on and on and on, we forget about the bigger picture. before you say "jesus fucking christ, cry me a river, we're talking about countries here, who really holds their nation of origin as sensitively as that?"... Because they have nothing to cling to, no identity except their guns, kfc, and middle america mindsets, and nobody to vouch for them as decent people except their little circle of merka first-ers. and ya know what fuels these people to take the wheel of our country in the form of voting for and supporting people like donald trump? sentiments like fuck merka. it's a vicious cycle. this is just an example of the power of words and generalizations. not trying to say that a post like yours is responsible for the alt right or anything, but an example to illustrate the power of words. i didn't see it myself for the longest time. hell, i was the one on this forum to lambaste obama for not saying the words "islamic extremism" on the world stage and calling it for what it is. while that's not a perfect example as i still think it is an accurate word to describe what it intends to describe, i understand and recognize that simply using a phrase like "religious extremism" in place when addressing the world, although may not satisfy the collective resolve for terror attacks and calling a spade a spade, it absolutely does just a tiny bit less to fuel the flames of jihadists around the world, and also keeps from marginalizing the already marginalized peace loving muslims around the world who want nothing to do with said phrase. So yeah, it's words, attitudes, and nuances that shape global affairs.

Why though? For real people are obsessed with money over here. I talk to people about what they're doing, about careers and it's always, I don't make enough money, I'm trying to get a better paying job, I want to get into an industry with a bigger starting salary. I bought the newer expensiver version of that thing you have, I'm buying the new iPhone as soon as it comes out, I don't buy used, I know riding the bus is better for the environment but I want to drive because I'm better than people who ride the bus, I want to eat where I can take cute selfies of my pretty food and might not even eat it, I need to see every big budget movie that comes out on opening day and I'm going to watch all the previews so I know about every other big budget movie coming out, I need the details of every single big product release, I must subscribe to every digital media service so I can watch a constant stream of new content.
