I agree there’s currently no need to panic about US invading Canada. And sure it is yet another outlandish statement. But if you think he doesn’t follow up on his nonsense and doesn’t persist in following through, you might be living under a rock. 
Trump 2.0 is different and worse than 1.0 in a number of ways.
For example, his outlandish approach to tariffs. Trump 1.0 watched the markets and would change his stance along with how the markets respond. A negative market response would lead to jump changing his mind. That was Trump 1.0. Trump 2.0 is different. As we are currently witnessing, Trump 2.0 believes in his own fantasies regardless of how the markets respond. There was a lovely analysis over at the Economist about this. Because the markets were expecting Trump 1.0, they assumed it would be same old same old. Similar to what you’re describing. But they are not so sure anymore. We can watch it playing out in real time. Markets are nose diving and Trump pulls the metaphorical middle finger. 
He’s as chaotic as ever. But if he’s saying outlandish stuff, it’s wise to assume he means it and might follow through. Trump 2.0 is worse. If he’s saying he wants to turn Gaza into a huge tourist attraction, don’t be surprised when he actually does.

Some people up here are. And I certainly am. Over the last few years I've spent more than enough time around people who came here as refugees from a certain other country that went through this exact same shit, where the leader of a larger neighbour openly denied their right to exist, where their media blasted the most ludicrous gobshite 24/7, and when shit finally hit the fan, even the sensible people in the larger neighbour just turned the other way, pretended it wasn't happening or even blamed the victim. Before it happened, most people's reaction there was also "ah they can't be serious". But they absolutely were. And now some of them are sitting in my front room, with our kids playing outside for march break, telling me that what is happening here and now is precisely how it started for them.

All the cringe "Buy Canadian" stuff is funny though, as if giving Galen Weston your hard earned cash instead of the Waltons is some kind of progress. Or some wholesome overpriced minority owned small business for that matter. Petit bourgeois activism makes me want to puke

Thailand. I see them all the time and also this car brand called "NETA" is many people driving also here now. 

The Teslas just looks like a normal car, super boring. I have only seen 1 Tesla that looks quite nice. 
I don't even know who is driving them but I think middle age men with some interests in modern teq, have the most expensive stuff from Apple and want to be modern and also show that they have money. 

The Asians are working their asses off now to get in top of the newest and best electric car industry. They will tear appart and eat Tesla this year!

Buy Canadian is fine, if you're actually buying Canadian. I like how the prime examples I see for liquor are Canadian Club whiskey (owned by Beam Suntorym which is an American company that operates as an independent subsidiary of Suntory, which is a Japanese MNC) or Crown Royal (owned by Diageo - which is a UK MNC). There are a few independent Canadian distilleries for whisky.

Not sure why you're bothered about minority owned businesses - that's just weird.

People have been saying that about Asian EVs and Tesla for some time now....this might be the year but I don't think so somehow. Maybe globally, but I'll guess that Teslas remain the #1 selling EV in America by a long shot, specially given that Musk is trying his best to stifle all competition there. Other American and European automakers are putting out some good offerings but Tesla is going to gobble up all the subsidies in the US.

Japanese automakers are just fucking weird about EVs - the market here is all hybrids or ICE (with admittedly super efficient engines). Korea is doing OK, the Hyundai group (includes Kia) makes some good cars. China can only compete on the entry level market right now, the prices they're asking for some of their upper-scale cars are ridiculous - to the point where it's cheaper to buy a Maserati EV than a BYD (in the States at least). Those super cheap BYDs really only exist in China, because of massive subsidies.

They just opened a BYD dealership here in Sendai, some decent looking cars, but the prices are ridiculous.

Hyundai / Kia truly make some of the best EVs out there right now (excluding niche, super expensive stuff like Lucid).  Their 800 V architecture makes them perfect road-trippers, allowing for best-in-class DC fast charging that blows away everyone else including Tesla (I can go from 10 - 80% in about 18 minutes under ideal conditions, but usually 10 minutes is more than enough for another 2  - 2.5 hrs straight in the car to the next charger, just enough for a pee and snack break).  Range is superb, styling is nice, software is good, and build quality is solid.

We're a 2 EV (both Hyundai), no ICE household.  My wife has an Ioniq 5 and I have an Ioniq 6.  I came from 7 years in a Chevy Bolt EV.  In Korea, the Ioniq 6 uses cameras for side view mirrors (which looks sweet and helps increase range), but regulations in the USA prohibit that.  I love my Ioniq 6, it's one of the most aerodynamic cars out there (helps range), beat only by luxury cars like Mercedes.

I really don't think he's any worse this time around. he was a horrible person the first time and just as bad now. he's surrounded by more enablers, yes, but there are still overwhelming forces of reality that exist in the current socioeconomic system that will prevent him from achieving many of his nonsensical wish list items. IMO the problem is people are more scared of him this time it seems (maybe 'cause he's a legit felon lol), and the media of course overblowing stuff as usual to keep everyone in a heightened emotional state.

as for tariffs - he's shown he's weak and will cater to the markets thanks to him imposing, then suspending, then threatening to impose, then imposing, then backing off...or wherever we are rn. nothing more than a giant bluff from a mentally unstable wannabe strongman that has already come back to bite him - thanks to the downturn this week in the market response. so I'm not sure I agree that he's any different this time around regarding markets, as he seemed to back off pretty quickly from his tariff BS whenever he saw the markets react negatively.
