Gaaah, what a poor cover of a very good Depeche Mode classic.

Movie trailer people: "So hear me out... we're gonna get a moody cover version of this classic song? You dig, son? Right on!"

At least it didn't start out with a single piano note...

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

VFX look good, acting looks bad, actor for Batou is a shitty choice and that butchered cover was horrible.

Basically agree. The general design looks good as well. Though, there's something a bit cheesy about it that I can't put my finger on.

That Batou looks horrible. Most people who haven't seen GITS will probably be fine with him.

Acting is meh.

Also, that depeche mode cover. Ugh.

Remind me, why did this have to be live action again?

Well, it's Hollywood, and these choices will probably sell a lot more than an anime. Whether or not WATMM is critical of it :)

Right when you said that, the note played in my head. I actually had never thought about it really before, but after you questioned it, my brain put it together as if I knew it all along. Weeeird. It's odd how we end up watching these movies that are DESIGNED to appeal to as many people as they can through focus groups and such, and everyone goes along with it. Movies would be much better if they were about creativity.

Footage looks like someone took the contrast and saturation sliders and bumped them both to +80

That's probably it. I wish it was 'darker'

Rupert Sanders looks to be one of the most uncreative directors of our time.

This trailer looks fucking abysmal.

Fuck you for ruining GITS.

Half baked existentialism and naked women with guns  :cattears:

Scarlett ain't even proper nekkid. I am dissapoint, son.

seriously though, I'm giving this a chance. it won't be anywhere near the calibre of the source material given the amount of time that has passed, but it may be something by handicapped film standards.

okay, what's with this amnesia angle? seems like a pretty big divergence from the source material, because in sac2 we see that the major knows she was in an accident, her parents died, and she was turned into a cyborg to save her life.

IT's probably for plot convenience, so that it's a mystery that's solved as the movie goes on, instead of a ton of exposition thrown at you

IT's probably for plot incoherence, so that it's a mystery that makes less sense as the movie goes on, instead of a manageable amount of exposition that would clear things up

She knew, but the audience didn't, and Hollywood likes the protagonist to discover things as the audience does, so it don't make us white folk feel stupid.  in Arise, she was literally ripped from her dying mother's womb and placed in a cyber body from birth, so she never knew the feeling of physical pain, etc.

I'm betting there is some sort of accident, or combat injury that requires the prosthetic body.
