Noel Gallagher - I'd like to introduce you to a teapot...

  Quote
In an interview with Esquire UK, Gallagher was asked if he was “aware” of the hierarchy of UK bands. He responded, “I’m aware that Radiohead have never had a fucking bad review. I reckon if Thom Yorke fucking shit into a light bulb and started blowing it like an empty beer bottle it’d probably get 9 out of 10 in fucking Mojo. I’m aware of that.”

Later, when discussing the backstory of “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and its subsequent legacy, Gallagher took another shot at the Radiohead frontman. “Technically, there’s better songwriters than I am. Guardian writers will tell you that. Have other people’s songs ever really touched a generation, though? Radiohead? When do people listen to them? Is it when they go out, or is it when they come in? Because I’m struggling to think.”

He continued, “Look, as soon as Thom Yorke writes a song as good as fucking ‘Mony Mony’, give us a fucking shout. Me and my missus, we were at the Coachella festival a couple of years ago and Radiohead were headlining. We were like, ‘Right, let’s give them one more chance. Let’s go and see them.’ Beautiful, sunny night. We walked out through the crowd as they came on, and they were playing this post-techno: ‘de-de de de.’ We were a bit pissed. Fucking great. And then he started singing. No. Not for us. We’re party people.”

Gallagher’s criticism wasn’t just reserved for Radiohead, however. He also called out the “new generation of rock stars” including Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner and Royal Blood. “They’ve got the fucking skinny jeans and the boots, and all that eyeliner. I’ve got a cat that’s more rock ‘n’ roll than all of them put together. Pigeons? Rips their fucking heads off.”

“I go back to this: Fame is fucking wasted on these people. The new generation of rock stars, when have they ever said anything that made you laugh? When have they ever said anything you remember? People say, ‘They’re interesting.’ Interesting! That’s a word that’s crept in to music: ‘Yeah, man. Have you heard the new Skrillex record?’ ‘No.’ ‘Yeah, man. It’s really interesting.’ I don’t want interesting! Rock ‘n’ roll’s not about that. To me, it’s about fucking utter gobshites just being fucking headcases. Well, not headcases. But what I want, genuinely, is somebody with a fucking drug habit, who’s not Pete Doherty. Do you know what I mean?”

Oh dear Joyrex, you really take what a Gallagher brother says as gospel? Lol.

Your in cahoots with Aphex right? Suggest you should take the amount of salt you normally pinch with Richard.

I read a good interview with NG once when he was saying Radiohead were one of the greatest live bands he's ever seen. As in he thought mindblowing.

It's a British thing, take the piss out of your mates. He was probably having a beer with Thom that evening and they were both laughing at it.

he just wanted to introduce his top new avatar, and this was a good way for us all to see it, start a new thread. There are a few things i could say about the OP, but that would lead to discussion and i'm feeling 'interesting' at the moment, and can't be bothered starting another argument/being controversial.

No, but one douchecanoe calling another out on being one is the epitome of hypocrisy.

the single greatest thing involving any members of Oasis

the waving scarf-boy windup punch at 1:34-1:39 is particularly amazing. It encapsulates the repressed homosexuality, hubris and blandness of almost every rock band in a matter of seconds. Looks like he learned how to punch from watching Popeye cartoons. Edited by John Ehrlichman

Really? This warrants a thread? The Gallaghers get "interviewed" every year just for the soul purpose of giving them a platform to spout their annual shit talking rants so journos can go "Look what the Gallanghers said this time!" and try to sell it as if its the most impressive, controversial, edgy, in-your-face, real-heavy-truthful-shit thing thats ever been said each and every time, and they bloody well know it. They get paid to do their tired act every single time.

[Gallagher isn't really relevant anymore and his schtick is old and doesn't really amuse anyone, but hey! Here's him talking shit about whatever!]

for the record Oasis made Status Quo sound like advanced prog rock, the UB40 of samey coked up pub rock bollix, so who the fuck cares?

Noel's quite a funny cunt when he wants to be doe, but i'd like to leave this thread with this image in mind.....

I remember reading a magazine article back in the late '90s, can't remember if it was Time or a different one. But I remember it saying one of the bros (Liam I think) poured beer on the audience at one of the shows.

So after also reading that blurb above, I'll just be blunt and label them pretentious Beetles-wannabe twats. I'll take Thom Yorke's music over theirs any day.

This is the millionth interview Oasis has given bashing Radiohead... okay maybe like tenth.

They've always been like this.

Oasis sent a demo tape to Radiohead sometime in the early 90s as they wanted to open a few shows for them. Radiohead said no and picked some other band. After Oasis became famous and the press asked Thom about it he said something like: "They sound cliche, boring, etc." and Oasis took it personally.

While it was probably not right for Thom to just bag on them, Oasis are the ones still angry two decades later for that small comment.

Oasis are a great band to listen to when you're pissed up at a bbq round your friend's house.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."
