its not about whether footwork is better or not musically (even though it is) its about it NOT being a part of the huge, ugly white-controlled marketing system of hip hop/rap, the world kayne thinks he presides over, which is fucking racist and at this point is almost indistinguishable from the jazz singer/minstrelsy. so incredibly depressing. it's a political statement to support footwork/UR/etc ie the last surviving twigs of unique african american music that haven't been subsumed by the maw of white male capitalism. and I know you english/continentals don't understand that but that's the way it is in this country, the place where it all started. i hate american exceptionalism arguments but thats the way it is and I didn't make the rules.
