goDel
Perhaps this piece is more a "How the world views England" but it's closely related to Brexit: https://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/magazine/how-i-learnt-to-loathe-england It covers a good amount of shocktherapy for Englanders, so it should be a fun read for many :) Quote So let me try to be as Dutch as I can, and say that I left the UK feeling disappointed, hurt and immensely worried. We did not leave because of Brexit. My wife and I are both Dutch and we want our children to grow roots in the country where we came of age. We loved our time in London and have all met people who we hope will become our friends for life. But by the time the referendum came, I had become very much in favour of the UK leaving the EU. The worrying conditions that gave rise to the result—the class divide and the class fixation, as well as an unhinged press, combine to produce a national psychology that makes Britain a country you simply don’t want in your club. I am terribly sorry for my pro-EU middle-class friends in England, and even more sorry for the poor who had no idea that by supporting Brexit they were voting to become poorer. But this is England’s problem, not the EU’s: the nation urgently needs some time alone to sort itself out. So when those first “Leave” votes came in, I found myself making fist pumps at the television. Amen Warrior
UK gov on brink of collapse, doubt May will see out the week? I've taken a cheeky punt on second EU ref happening in 2019, which was the closest bet I could find to "brexit won't happen". Odds 5/1. azatoth
While Brexit was a stupid idea in the first place, but the unfathomable incompetence of May and the Tories is just staggering. Less than a year left and in the two years leading up to this they have achieved absolutely nothing in the way of a plan. Did these momo's really think they could just dictate the terms and the EU would just sign off on it no questions asked? The UK is going to be a hot mess, or what's left of it because Scotland is going independent and NI will join Ireland, because even the crazy protestants in NI are going to go fuck this garbage. This is truly the era of maximum stupid. flol It's not entirely May's fault, given the situation. They're in an impossible situation, one bunch of cunts in Tory party want one thing, the rest of the party want another (...more reasonably solution), but they have to not only placate those first cunts, but the fucking DUP cunts as well (who want a third thing), and then there's the shower of useless cunts in Labour who have made zero effort to actually apply any parliamentary pressure at any stage to force the hand of the first group of cunts I mentioned (and they had numerous opportunities to do so, but at the end of the day the hard-left in labour want brexit to go ahead because they're also stupid cunts too). It looks like it's finally coming to a head now, my guess is that May will call the bluff of the biggest cunts who are the problem, and there'll be a shitty soft brexit and nobody will be happy. Of course none of this would be happening in the first place if they'd just won an overall majority in the last election, so you can blame May for that, but also Corbyn for being a joke of a politician who can't even get the best of a useless cunt like May. There's a decent chance of Scotland fucking off out the union if this all goes pear shaped, but it'll take a bit more for Irish reunification, we're still a good distance away on achieving that, though it is more likely than ever. Don't forget the eurosceptics in the tory party have pretty much had 30 fucking YEARS to define exactly what it is they want to do and come up with a plan, and they've failed miserably. Absolutely staggering incompetence, to the surprise of fucking no one. The way I see it going, May is forced out (this week?), tory leadership election, snap g election this year in an attempt to regain majority, labour landslide, prime minister corbyn is persuaded to hold a second referendum before his own shit plan for brexit can go through, country vote remain, tory party permanently destroyed. The last part is obviously wishful thinking as corbyn is abysmal. caze
I think May'll hang on, Borris quitting is a non-event, everyone seems to have gotten tired of him at this point. Anyone else would be crushing these bastards listened to Emily Thornberry's blathering take on this via t'radio yesterday.... so much jargon spewed to say fk all of substance Labour have had multiple opportunities to lance these boils, but it seems they'd rather wait while a Tory govt implodes rather than act as a viable & working parliamentary opposition with an actual fkn plan even though Corbyn was one of a very small number of British MP's who spoke to both sides in the north of Ireland & forged cross-party alliances during the height of The Troubles, he still seems a slippery cunt & his unwillingness to go for the kill over Tory Brexit bs is unforgivable if you gave me a large sum of money to bet, i'd go for Boris trying to force a leadership punt, Gove &/or Mogg to tongue punch his dirt star, gen-election called early autumn, Labour win & still fk up w/Brexit/2nd Ref omnishambles Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/90261-eu/page/61/#findComment-2647636 Share on other sites

YangYing
that's around 10% of ur pop, yeah same thing here.. altough our nationalist party has gone up to about 25% (largest party) on the latest polls (our nationalist party is soft compared to urs I think tho) how does your government deal with the increase of nationalist sentiments? here in Sweden the reaction has been inexcusably incompetent. we have elections this year and during the last party leader debate the best they came up with was to say "you're rasists" to the nationalist party or give pathos arguments (same strategy they have had the last 4 years which clearly doesn't work, confirmed by the polls) edit: is especially infuriating since the case against fascist leaning pride is fairly straightforward yet our leaders cant make the effort past name calling in the case of Sweden I just hope the parties get more serious about their impending loss to nationalism and don't double down on their shitty rethoric, hopefully new parties/leaders pop up with some more spine to em Edited July 11, 2018 by MIXL2 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YangYing's signature Hide all signatures >>MY MUSIC<< Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/90261-eu/page/61/#findComment-2647832 Share on other sites
