It's the same 4/4 masquerading as 5/4 trick that they use on runrepik (I remember having a discussion about this at some point last year on here). I'm guessing the beats are probably built essentially the same, or maybe using a modification of the same loop. Either way, listening to loops of both tracks for the past 5 minutes has made me not just not-enjoy both tracks, but actually hate them, so I'm going to investigate no further. IOS
I know precisely what you mean. During the broadcast of feed1 I couldn't tell where the beat was for the entire track. It took three auditions to realise the bass drums really mostly stay in the same positions throughout the track. runrepik is now much easier to follow rhythmically. The one that's still tricky is spl9. donotseemecricket
just bought a new hi res digital audio player to play these 24 bit wav ae files i've been getting.anyways. i've finally been able to give the entire elseq 1-5 a proper listen. several times each. more familiar with the first 3, but 4 and 5 are coming along.here are some of my initial thoughts…i had some cannabyss last night and went out walking listening to elseq 1… visions of surrealistic, futuristic, alien, apocolyptic landscapes. ominous, dark and foreboding, but also extremeley visual and viceral and exotic. some of it serene. one track (c16 deep tread) ended like an atomic bomb and the feeling was that of despair. the emptyness swallowed me. it was fitting cos i came to a clearing in the road and it was dark and i had a view of the lake michigan ocean and things were vast and desolate. the sonic palatte created and presented is emmaculate. i am in complete au. i later laid in bed and listened to more (elseq 2,3) with my eyes closed. extremely visual. layers of multi dimensinal planes appeared to form and shape shift in my minds eye. listened to 4 and 5 walking to and from work during the day. made for a very super-natural walk. it really is a night time album though. overall the scope of this album, in terms of length and range of different sounds is enormous. quite spiritual. god-like almost. while this can be applied to the whole thing, with elseq 5 in particular… i am reminded of the scene in Tarkovsky's Solaris at the end where Kris is on his knees in the pouring rain on the surface of the planet solaris, before his father, he is on his knees kissing his hands in a prostrating state. i would compare the sounds to that of the surface of the planet Solaris. a largely unexplored world, where all basic laws of human knowledge are all but non-existant. we can only speculate as to what is going on beneath the surface. it is the AU that has come to TECH the ER. There's a distinct shift in mood with AE_LIVE and elseq. They're mostly dark, apocalyptic and relentless, and there's really chilling moments where I feel like I'm gazing into the abyss. Even when it's playful, it's heavy. It makes me wonder what's been going through their minds that led to this change. We focus a lot on the tools and process when we talk about what they do, and surely that's a major factor, but it seems like there's more to the changes in taste and decisions. This is their Earth (the band, not the planet you fucking hippies) period. Earth albums often revolve around one new instrument or idea, and this set of EPs (yeah I'm calling them that until Sean pops in to say I'm wrong) is seemingly all made on one basic set of software (the AE_LIVE Max/whatever setup), so that counts....and then the songs are mostly long and slightly changing jam-style stuff that is often pretty but often dark/melancholy. Okay I'm mostly joking but the comparison struck me as slightly relevant. I got that sense too especially from the sound of eastre. its the same 3 droning chords for the entire song, but with an engrossing AE take on the style that earth has executed so well. ive loved playing eastre loud as fuck in the same way id listen to earth. Also it just sounds the "earthiest", while the rest of the album has mostly evoked for me scenes of space Edited June 2, 2016 by nappanapples Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/90690-elseq-1-5/page/59/#findComment-2451178 Share on other sites

donotseemecricket
So there I was trying to feed1 curvcaten but the wind wouldn't let up on my pendulu hv moda. Thus I was forced to take the c16 deep tread back to base. And just when I place a 13x0 step in the doorframe this chimer 1-5-1 motherfucker has the gall to mesh my cinereaL. I'd get the bastard later, I thought. I had a few c7b2s saved up, slide one right under his nose when he's not looking. Teach him a lesson in elyc6. The 0nset slow, like eastre it just creeps up on you and before you know it you've been pulled right off the artov chain. I eventually forgot about the incident and decided to foldfree a casual. The 7th slip this week. Too bad they only come in oneum these days. I remember back when I first joined the base, freulaeux would sell some kinda spTh that'd make your latentcall look like a great golden frog. TBM2 I think they called it. I laid in my bunk for awhile until I started to get the pendulu casuals. "Shit, I didn't close the spaces between how V and IV back at the pod," I thought. Jamesqdot
Okay, this is disturbing me. I've been listening to Elseq 1-5 on and off since release. It's highly addictive. The references people here have been making to the AE_Live albums got me curious. I was originally as put off by the samples of the AE_Live albums as I was by those for Elseq 1-5 so I never actually bought them. I was wrong about Elseq 1-5 so I went back and skimmed through the AE_Live previes on the Ae Store again. In the Krakow, Brussels and Utretcht albums alone I've heard the live equivalents of a pretty good chunk of the material on Elseq 1-5, so was this basically them touring new material prior to honing it down for these EPs? More worryingly, can we expect Elseq 6-10 sometime soon do you think? It's just too much to process! :) Edited June 3, 2016 by Jamesqdot Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/90690-elseq-1-5/page/59/#findComment-2451401 Share on other sites
