Jeez Katy B and David Guetta don't get me in the mood for football in the least.

On the plus side, Roberto Martinez is a lot better than any of the clowns covering the Copa America on Fox (or whatever network that is).

those were tears of freedom from bilic's brutal hairline

are you watching Ingerland, even

couldnt quite believe that late Russki goal tonight, but as soon as Wilshere came on things started to slip, appalling not closing the game out doe (tee-hee)

side-note, Rooney dropping deep didnt really work, there's more goals in that team w/out him

Danny Rose flat out admitted Bale has the beating of Walker in the press, but 0-0 or a 1-1 draw could swing a goal difference qualification for the knock out phase

may the gods bless us in our noble quest

I'll take that at the moment.

Romania should have won that

Nonsense. France were dominant, if a bit nervy. Payet and Pogba are a formidable midfield. Giroud should have had a brace.

Rooney was possibly second best player for England after Dier. As a box-to-box midfielder, there's no one better in the England squad (awaits Caze to bring up Henderson, who is a box-to-box, but is clearly not better than Rooney, or someone to bring up Dier, who is a better Holding/DM than Rooney, but not box-to-box or Alli, who is maybe on par attacking wise but certainly not defensively).

Played well: Dier, Rooney, Alli, Lallana, the back four for 90 minutes (then Cahill and Smalling were shite in time added on). Played average: Kane, Wilshere. Played poorly: Sterling, Milner, Hart.

Bale won't line up against Walker though.

I think the English midfield bests the Welsh, and the Welsh defense can be got at.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

England haven't exactly been firing in the goals in recent years, have they, so to counter the Rooney notes, for a supposed world class front man do you get the best out of him in midfield or further up?

No doubt you're favourites (would the world expect anything less?), pretty much always have been in this arena of the round ball game, but you're classic under-achievers considering the £$£ investment that goes on English football player development. Consider what the French, Spanish & German national teams have done in comparison.... & there is no comparison.

Think Dier & Ali looked sharp & midfield will be a tussle, they could get you the foothold/purchase to graft some goals, but Rambo, Ledley, Joe Allen & Jonny WIlliams will get stuck right in. Even though you're massive favourites, your record in tournament football in recent decades gives me more hope than an ounce of hope.

Its all up for grabs and as long as it aint a 4 or 5 - 0 most of my countrymen would settle for a draw. Cant imagine too many Inglan fans would settle for a draw against us & there-in lies the rub.

Oh I'm not arguing that we aren't classic underachievers, don't get me wrong. We're shite, and it will be a good scrap against the Welsh.

Rooney doesn't have the pace to be a top front man any more, been that way for a couple of years really. It's all the crisps he shares with his boys. He's definitely better in the middle of the park these days, and he's got some ability to pick a pass.

Really should have knocked in 3 in the first half against the russkies.

Dissappointing result for us there, were by far the better side. Sweden edged the posession but aside from peppering us with crosses didn't really create many proper chances, we wasted a bunch of them first half in particular. Yet another game I've watched where Ibrahimovic has looked useless. Italy currently making this talented Belgian side look pretty ordinary.

Hoolahan's strike was a peach

shortly off to Lens for a jaunty joust with various Anglo-Saxon firms and half of fuckin Russia too by the looks of it, saaaaaaafe

slightly concerned about the Russia game next week as chatter on the casual grapevine is all about England's knuckle-draggers looking to join the Soul-Crew/Jack Army in a spot of Russian battering revenge

classy

the usual suspects in England have all had their passports confiscated prior to the tournament, but I get the feeling Putin may be paying the travel expenses for his lot (and I'm only partially joking here, check this out - he even blames Polish and Northern Irish fans, despite the fact that they had actually both been attacked by roving gangs of russian thugs!).

so far the only real trouble English fans were instigating was a bit of throwing shit around and acting like obnoxious (but not violent) cunts, followed by them getting attacked by local gangs. then at the game they get rushed by organised Russian hooligans and UEFA threatens to turf both nations out?! Irish fans can act in a similar drunken manner (if not quite as bad maybe) without being targeted because we don't have a history hooliganism. Marseilles is a real shit hole though, I used to live near Nice (where there are a few dodgy groups, but nowhere near as bad as Marseilles), not sure if England play there again, but expect it won't be anywhere near as bad in the rest of the country.

it looks like 90% of the trouble so far has either been caused by French and Russian gangs, plus one incident when some German neo-nazis attacked some Ukrainian fans. one handy fact though, 100s of Russians have been arrested so far, and they can all be deported, can't do that to any EU citizens obviously. the world cup in a couple of years ain't going to be pretty.

eh, no they haven't, misread one article. over a hundred should have been arrested though.

one of the main organisers of the russian fans groups, accredited by the Russian FA, seems to be a far-right scumbag as well: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/13/far-right-activist-euro-2016-russian-fa-alexander-shprygin-nazi-salute
