Sick of these idiots recommending Ae's early albums

This is just a rant.

I am so fucking sick of people dismissing Ae's post-Chiastic output ("where are the tunes?!") and recommending their early albums instead as "absolute masterpieces" with "soul" and "melody" and "blah blah blah".

It just screams "I am a stupid, impatient, close-minded, casual, basic, stuck-in-the-past, not-capable-of-listening, knowing-nothing-about-music-melody-rhythm-and-structure, accidentally-bumped-into-IDM-when-I-was-young-and-now-I-am-old-and-tired-with-kids-in-need-of-easy-fun, rather-listen-to-boards-of-canada-because-deep-emotions-tunes-nature-and-geocatching-for-rare-eps, I-can't-hum-it-in-a-shower dumbass".

I fucking hate those idiots (especially when they talk about melodies when they actually mean timbres...).

I absolutely get they don't like the music (and that is perfectly fine, don't get me wrong) but their arguments and points are asking for a punch in their faces. So fucking stupid it actually hurts.

Hey man, don't get mad at them. Maybe saying there is no melody or emotion in Autechre is misguided, but they aren't stupid for saying that. Autechre is just music that needs patience, and it's something they aren't used to.

To be fair, the new stuff isn't a great place to start for most people.

Well more people will connect with the earlier albums, then potentially get into the later albums. I wouldn't recommend the other way around. Just like I recommend Syro or RDJ album with Aphex.

Well exactly, Confield and Draft are not exactly easy jumping on points.

I always enjoy listening to the early music of any artist as you can usually plot a route of how they have developed.

But seriously, just calm down. Yes, while I perfer Autechre's newer works, records like Amber are absolute masterpieces. If someone can't get into the new stuff, that just isn't a big deal. It's basically Intelligent Noise Music (not saying that noise music is dumb as I love noise) and some people really don't want to go that far out.

Autechre have evolved for the better IMO, and they evolved for themselves and their artistic vision. Not many artists can say that. But people don't have to evolve with them.

I see where jev's coming from, the basic bitches can be a little tiresome.

Just ignore them though innit

Shit, sorry guys. I forgot to say that I enjoy early Autechre too (Tri Rep and Chiastic aren't really special to me though, as I already said that I consider Chiastic their weakest). It's just the basic idiots I can't stand. So I am sorry for misunderstanding that this rant was implying that I consider early Autechre bad.
