Max Richter and all that faux-classical stuff like Nils Frahm is complete wank.

Mogwai can fuck off too.

Anyone BUT OPN

Agreed. Awful

Said a led zep fan about aphex in the 90s

VHS Head is one that I think will continue to have a strong following in the future - he's proven to be very good with only a small number of releases so far and still developing his sound with each release.

OPN is sexy.

I mean he's not a 'new aphex twin or squarepusher', he's OPN. Different guy. Different mood it puts me in. Calling someone a new aphex might actually degrade who they are as an artist.

It makes the OP and title confusing. Is it about spiritual successors, or just random good electronic music artists you like/love?

i think most people here will agree that tim hecker is equal to or superior to aphex.

you mean the guy that keeps making the same album over and over again? cool ill check him out after i finish this dub techno album I'm listening too but hold on this is not an album its just one song on repeat, man i been fooled again by dub techno, to be fair to me its easy to be fooled by dub techno because all the songs sound the same just like tim hacker LOOOOOL you been pranked booooy

i find Mouse on Mars to be pretty good regarding emotional &next level electronic music.

Tim Hecker only makes ambient music. I'd only compare aphex's ambient stuff at most, which is a minor part of his stuff overall. It's separated by 1-2 decades. So... ? I don't think it's a fair comparison.

Tim Hecker is excellent by the way. It's just.. comparing music from 2  very different times, and honestly very different music by ambient standards. Not really in the same moods either. I get totally different vibes from SAW1/2 and Virginal/Love Streams.

They're great. I'm semi addicted to their early work.

i was a led zep listener and also liked aphex, so that puts paid to your theory with a zero sample size against my proof with the sample size of lots of my friends. ;-p
