Well, this is embarrassing. I misread "Math.max(0,2 * ...)" in the code as "Math.max(0.2 * ...)". Asking Wolfram Alpha the right thing says a+f+x=0 when a = -13.9598. So yeah, July 20, as very honest and Humanoid have been saying all along.
