I'm sure I sound like a crotchety old bastard saying this, and idk if it's just on YT or also on Reddit & elsewhere, but it seems like nobody knows how to be original anymore when writing comments.

As another elderly curmudgeon, I agree. It's a cumulative problem: if you read nothing but poorly written inane crap with no structure and a limited vocabulary, that's how you write. If you're exposed to nothing but social media, you write like social media: quick, simple comments requiring no thought and no personality. I read widely and a lot (dead tree editions, too), so when I write (even here) I revise what I write several times to compress, expand, tighten, loosen, simplify, complicate - and sometimes I just throw everything away because I make no sense. I try to communicate, not just throw boiled spaghetti on the wall to see if it sticks.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.
dcomμnications (WATMM blog, mostly about non-IDM releases, maybe something else, too.)

I wonder if any musician/music artist has made an "album" that's actually a set of modules that are no more than 30 seconds each, but all have the same instrumentation and tempo but with different notes and drum patterns. In theory, one can loop and shuffle this "album" simultaneously and have effectively randomized modules seaming with each other, while still making it sound like the same song but with an indefinite duration and non-linear structure.

I'm sure this would make absolutely no sense to most people. But I'm sure someone here would get it.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

^Isn't that basically the concept of Gescom - Minidisk (though I think in this case poorly done)?

I was actually thinking that before making that post. Le Shark (not Monke) in particular comes to mind.

one of the cool things about society coming to an end is that the threat of being excommunicated from casual aquaintance networks no longer factors in to the way i word things to other people. i feel like i've finally started to become the salty dick i want to see in the world

@Cryptowen aren't you in Quebec? how's the curfew thing going?

apparently there was a big protest downtown the first night (I didn't hear about it til the next day). a bunch of people got arrested & there were police helicopters in the sky

judging by the montreal reddit page (which is my go to for "general local normal person opinion" updates) the curfew has caused a very abrupt mood whiplash amongst the general populace. for pretty much the whole quarantine so far the mood has seemingly been "we're all in this together! trust the experts! we'd be out of this by now if it wasn't for those damn kids not keeping two metres of daylight between each other at all times...". and now suddenly i'm seeing lots of comments along the lines of "this is bullshit, the government has no idea what it's doing". also i notice that most of the people i've run into randomly the last week have seemed on edge, out of sorts, making vague statements about their mental health. i can often hear ppl through the walls in my apartment complex talking to themselves in an angry tone, cursing, making vague threats.

me personally i feel charged up. my umbrage levels have not increased, they simply have become less concealed

I follow Ontario news quite a bit (lived there for 10+ years), and it seems they're using the QC curfew as a thinly veiled threat to get people to follow their new lockdown measures. but yeah, I can only imagine the frustration and confusion a curfew like that would bring about in some folks. luckily (heh) we have a bunch of Republican asshats running Texas, who made it abundantly clear they will never lock us down ever again.

Doesn't imposing a curfew just mean you have more people out and about all at the same time? Stupid.

yeah the grocery stores have been noticeably more packed ever since it was implemented.

also apparently cops can still give you the $6,000 fine if they feel like it, even if you're a night shift worker & have all the legal paperwork saying you're required to be out past curfew

both of my grandmas have been dead for years, i really don't give a shit about coronavirus tbh

I apply this wisdom to driving.  The bored audience is whoever happens to be tailgating me at the time.  They always honk their approval, so it must be working.

what's with chicks in porn that cross their eyes while they orgasm? i think it's a japanese thing. i dunno./
