sorry if that’s insensitive but I have a close relative, a narc and drinker in full denial, that’s continually being a rather destructive force to anyone getting near them.

I have close rellies like this. Just before christmas we paid for flights for an estranged and struggling relative (one time heroin enjoyer) to fly in to see his elderly and ailing parents for the first time in decades. He spends a night with them before disappearing to some trap house where he spent christmas day right through to new year. He's basically back on the streets again, in a different province to the one he actually lives in.

There are half a dozen stories like that on one side of the family. Whether it's their fault or the drugzz talking is almost besides the point. The truth, that we've learnt the hard way now many times, is that most people like that are just not redeemable, and you have to cut them out and move on. Which is an agonisingly hard pill to swallow (lol?) when it's a close relative or friend

Why the fuck do people walk on the left? You wouldn't drive on the wrong side of the road, so why are you walking there? Maybe it's just because I walk on bike paths a lot where it's a known rule that you keep to the right and leave space etc. But while this is perfectly logical to me, to most other people it seems like when you're on the sidewalk or crossing the street you can just go wherever you want, cut people off, hug blind corners etc. I think the rules of the road should apply everywhere. I'm so sick of it that I've started just walking right into people when I'm clearly on a mission and they're in the way and don't move.* Pedestrian road rage. 
 

EDIT *ok at risk of sounding like a complete asshole I should clarify that I've only done this once or twice and only when I was really on a mission to get somewhere. But do feel that it was justified

EDIT2 OK obviously this is a symptom of some "I'm right and you're wrong" thinking that is so pervasive in our society now and I've fallen into it...

joggers routinely run against traffic on that side of the road so they can see the cars coming instead of getting runover from behind by jogging on the right side of the road. unfortunately they take this behavior with them to trails, paths etc.. i've almost run into joggers when cycling on this one bridge in a path network where it's sort of blind when ya enter the bridge.. so, if someone is on the wrong side they remain unseen until the last second. it's really frustrating.. especially when they have an unleashed dog trailing them. joggers get awfully entitled sometimes but many here in portland will run in the bike path going the wrong way but then they move out of the path onto the sidewalk or grass etc when a cyclist is coming. i still find it annoying.

These are the same people who camp out in left / middle lanes on the highway. Weren't they taught that if you're not actively passing somebody, you're supposed to stay in the right lane?  These are also the jagoffs that pass you on the right on the highway.

I remember Soundcloud recommendations on who to follow being completely ass, but I've recently noticed they are kind of good? Have they improved it or has the algorithm just learned my tastes?

My ex-coworkers tried to invite me to get drunk at a strip club tonight, but I turned the invitation down. Not sure why they bothered, since it's been nearly a year since I changed jobs. Especially in times when it feels like the world is unravelling, and these machismo try-hards somehow still expect me to associate with them and indulge in drunken chauvinistic stupidity...no thanks.

(Does this belong in the Stupid FWPs thread? I dunno. I don't even how to take my mind off the daily nightmare we now live in since orange shitstain got back into power. Just feels like I'm on alert 24/7 now.)

I hear you there.  Went to a bachelor party this year and I and one other guy hung back while the other 6 went to a nasty-ass strip club two nights in a row.  One dude who is well-off supposedly dropped $20k at the club over 2 nights, they bought coke from a stripper (tried to get me to do that shit), and the other guy who hung back with me tried to call his dad who was at the club and a stripper (Bubbles) answered the call because the father had fallen asleep at the club.

Is this what they think it is to be an adult male?

I'm embarrassed to put my seat back cause I don't spot anyone doing it... quite strange cause most of the times nobody cares... anyway I just put it like 45% back I never go all the way except if there's no one on the seat behind me...

I've always been under the impression that accessing the internet via cell phones is a strict no-no on airlines.  Something to do with interference.  But lap top use of wifi is okay for some other reason.
