today on the bus home, at night, I saw this guy slurping on what I assume was a milkshake, while staring at an LCD panel in a store window that was displaying the american flag for some reason. It felt a lot like an NPC, but it was also kind of profound, maybe the guy was just having a really good time zoning out with his milkshake

Google has been using human input from reCaptcha to train AI at least since 2012. The hilarious part is that now that AI is being used to bypass the captchas it's creating a feedback loop that undermines the whole system because it just reinforces the mistakes the AI makes.

The same thing happens with other AIs that just scrape the internet for images and whatnot. All the AI mistakes made in generated content are reused to teach other AI models. And it just get worse and worse when more and more AI generated content is getting put out on the net.

My native language is not English, so I often mishear lyrics and especially when I was younger it happened all the time. So I thought that when Michael Jackson's "Wanna be startin something" gets to the post-chorus and I hear repeatedly "you're a vegetable" I'm just mishearing the lyrics. Turns out those are the actual lyrics. Wtf

Four Tet playing Sim Gishel at the end of his set in Lollapalooza got me thinking that has IDM been getting some mainstream acceptance lately? I was at a random neighborhood street party last weekend and between old rave tracks the DJ was playing FSOL's Papua New Guinea and Aphex Twin's Polynomial C. And I saw some youngsters in the crowd wearing AFX merch. Just feels like this wouldn't have happened in a Finnish street party in the 90s. Or in the early 2000s.

gf and I occasionally read stories to each other on the phone. yesterday she read me something from one of Andrew Lang's "Fairy Books" called The Little Hare. I think it was a Japanese story? It took a while but the hare, introduced like 90% into the bulk of this thing, turned out to be pure fucking evil and tried to roast another critter alive after gaslighting him. Anyway she looked up the difference between hares and rabbits and it's stark. I edited a few hare photos to get the point across. They'd absolutely pitch any one of us into a fire
