I've always been under the impression that accessing the internet via cell phones is a strict no-no on airlines.  Something to do with interference.  But lap top use of wifi is okay for some other reason.

yeah dude welcome to now! cellphones on planes join the plane wifi which itself joins I dunno, satellites? science man...

joggers routinely run against traffic on that side of the road so they can see the cars coming instead of getting runover from behind by jogging on the right side of the road. unfortunately they take this behavior with them to trails, paths etc.. i've almost run into joggers when cycling on this one bridge in a path network where it's sort of blind when ya enter the bridge.. so, if someone is on the wrong side they remain unseen until the last second. it's really frustrating.. especially when they have an unleashed dog trailing them. joggers get awfully entitled sometimes but many here in portland will run in the bike path going the wrong way but then they move out of the path onto the sidewalk or grass etc when a cyclist is coming. i still find it annoying.

I do this sometimes, but mostly if I can't see what's coming when closing in on a left/right turn

Also hella annoying are cyclists/mtb that keep on driving next to each other even when they see traffic coming from the opposite direction. @ignatiusThis isn't directed at you btw, just an observation in general

You know that annoying beeping interference you can get on your speakers when you've got a call coming in?  Pilots get that on their radios if everyone has their cellphones on.

So it won't crash the plane, but it's just to keep annoying interference off the pilots' radio.

yeah dude but you're not using your sim card operator, you're using the plane's wifi, totally different kind of sciences... your airplane mode is still on... :catnope: I thought it was pretty obvious I was just messing around...

yeah.. the obvious thing is to get single file when there's traffic or just when it's tight space.. i've passed cyclists having a conversation who were just cruising and there was lot's of car traffic and lot's of bike traffic so these dudes were creating a fucking bike traffic jam in the bikelane. i finally got fed up and when there was a small gap in car traffic threaded the needle and went by them not giving a fuck if they felt it was too close.  i get it.. we all like to catch up w/our cycling buddy when on a ride but fucking read the room.

I should've quoted the post that you quoted, but I quoted you instead.  Pretty obvious what I was doing...  :catnope::catnope::catnope::catnope:

I usually have a small bowl of mixed nuts as a snack with my 10:00 tea.  Well after doing this for several years, I finally had the bright idea to zap the nuts in the microwave for 40 - 60 s, giving me hot nuts like they serve you on first class flights.

Hot nuts are 10/10; will never go back to room temperature nuts again.

deleted my ig account once again, good times my friend @prdctvsm :catsalute:

IG is the only social media that gets any traction from followers in my experience, the others are like farting into the wind these days, but zucker is a fucker.

YouTube will never again be as joyous as it was back in 2007. Now it's basically usurped by Silicon Valley Skynet with mass algorithm/AI-based censorship and completely random-ass feeds based on completely random-ass channels you're subscribed to. Enjoy the ads.

The surprisingly underused "subscriptions" view narrows it down to the actual channels you follow, and if you care you can also avoid feeding the monster and subscribe via rss.
But yeah, joyous youtube of old is indeed long gone.

This whole time I thought the Duolingo character Lucy was a sumo wrestler. Now I feel beyond stupid.

Did Columbine ruin the coolness of trench coats forever

I remember having a heated discussion with my mom about me wearing my trenchcoat to school on the morning the Columbine tragedy was reported in Dutch newspapers. Must’ve been when I was around 14 years old and heavily entrenched in my goth phase. My mom gave up when I argued it wasn’t the coats that fired the bullets. Feel bad for her now, especially considering I insisted wearing a fake blood drenched lab coat to school a year later. Even though I clearly was the loser in that case.

Came here to pointlessly point out that Kraftwerk’s Computer World is the perfect soundtrack to travelling on an ICE .

Somebody should edit the Scotland Yard Wikipedia page to include the Computer World name check among the “Popular Culture” references.

There’s even a kiosk! And it’s currently closed just like the real one!

I always thought it was public masturbators in New York parks and subways that ruined trench coats.

Columbo is cool as fuck I don't get it.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Every now and then I like to follow Wikipedia rabbit holes about topics I don’t begin to understand, like

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagrangian_(field_theory)

It helps to give a concrete sense of how limited my understanding really is. I hereby prescribe this method to everyone else to help fix modern society

yr welcome
