In an era when so many independently owned forums have disappeared and the only replacements have been shitty social media owned by corrupt scumbags, please don't let another board die. I get not wanting to keep up with the place if your heart isn't in it, Joyrex, and really appreciate the lengthy notice, but if you decide not to pass on the board or database, then please do push a big ad if someone makes a replacement. So, so many boards have limped on for years with one or two posts a month before closing, this place is actually pretty busy by 2025 standards, this community needs to live on.

Wow just read the news.. talk about the end of an era.. 18 years of pretty much daily interactions. I get it though and things run their course. It would be fab if somebody took over. 

I hope there's a lovely "thing" to say goodbye... Very sorry never got to meet Joyrex in Houston!

I totally understand Joyrex and the points are valid. We all see it, there's not so much happening, on our side, on the artists side.

@Joyrex, will you please add a downloadable website archive 8n some form?

Sigh, such a long time. I was user Wurstwasser, then ragequit some years ago, instantly regretted and registered again.

Biggest highlight was the Ae AMA, I felt like a screaming fan, 13 years old kid. Totally in a very exceptional state.

I'd be interested innumbers... my impression was also that WATMM is rather dead.

BUT I've definitely seen worse decline. Some band related Facebook group was hot 3 years ago with like 50 posts a day, today it is moderated lol, and with 1 post a day or per week at times.

Reddit is sometimes interesting.

Compared to how it used to be, but forums in general are nowhere near as busy as they used to be. Places that used to have hundreds of posts a day now get 50... and we do have a lot of megathreads here, which make the place look quieter than it is.

I suppose on paper I'm technically qualified to do this or help with this but as a chronic under-achiever I've never actually bothered to set up a site of my own so I lack any specific experience for this. I'd definitely be interested to have a think about it with some people. 

I think the #1 question is how much the server hosting is going to cost though. I gather JR was paying out of pocket for WATMM and I'd rather not sign up for that but it also largely depends how much money we're talking about.

I haven't paid out of pocket for WATMM since 2013. Subscriptions and renewals and Google AdSense cover the costs. YMMV with something new though.

Why am I getting ads again on watmm (mobile and on a puter). I paid top dollar for no ads. I do not want a Kia, I am not even in the market for a new car!
