I read something about some top R guy talking about the party moving past trump. he said the R party doesn't have a top leadership problem - they know trump is an idiot and needs to go if they ever want to get their party back to some state of normalcy. the R's have a voter base problem, since his supporters can't seem able to cut the cord from dumbo. the maga brainwashing he shat upon them has worked too well. other than him dying, I don't know they'll ever be able to completely move on. or hey, I can see a scenario that they'll still be penciling in his dead corpse after he kicks it.

yeah.. they're gonna be brainstorming how to deal w/the MAGA chuds for a long time since it's basically an opportunity for smaller fish to pander to them. all kinds of new JD Vance douchebags will appear.. matt gaetz types etc. it's strange to see them so misaligned. the tech bro dollars from peter thiel and the like and the people those guys push vs the heritage foundation types, the mainstream republicans and then the piss stream bathing maga chuds who want to roll around in the conspiracy mud and say stupid shit about everything... finding a candidate they can unite behind is gonna be a weird road. i'm pretty sure they will stick to opposing whatever the democrats want to do as a philosophy and then seizing any opportunity to disassemble anything good and privatize all the things whenever they can... and of course there's the gerrymandering and dirty tricks they excel at on the local and state level.. they've kinda got a lot of things locked up because of that and will keep winning in those places for a long time.

I think they're so misaligned because of trump, who isn't really even a republican. he's a member of the trump-benefits-his-own-personal-brand party. we know he's all over the map, never sticks to the script, and makes up random bullshit anytime he feels like it. he's the fast-food combo meal of lies, confusion, and misalignment. how can the rest of their party members possibly be able to move in a sane, unified direction when a piss poor leader like that is at the helm? he's been responsible for bringing in all the outlandish MTG/Boebert type whackos onto team R, has turned the party image into that of an insane asylum. I think there's a lot of R's that hate that, and want it back to the pre-trump Grand Ol' Party era. but his supporters are holding them hostage to keep being the party of the crazies. how they go about changing them is the million-dollar question...I hope they figure it out, because these trump years have been draining on a lot of people in this country who are sick of all this childish immature political crap that gets blasted out in the media every single day.

Trump & his ilk very well may be the future of the R party. Vance made a good showing of how that could work beyond Trump last night...Gaetz/Vance/Cruz/Rubio, those types of 'we try to present as moral & staunch in our values for the mainstream cameras, but will slip it in your ass the second you turn your back' fucks, full of some weird mix of educated and ignorant/weird/shitty/selfish.

i think Vance was running for 2028/2032 more than he was running for Trump last night. i'm getting the vibe that Trump/Vance/etc. have some serious hints they're going to lose. i'm not saying this as an optimistic Dem voter, but objectively, it feels like there's something in the way they've been acting over the last month or two since Harris took the reins.

the MAGA lunatics will partly be just not voting (or dead) over the next few presidential elections anyway no matter what happens in this one... (unless someone after Trump can rile those crazies into the cultlike fervor) a number of them will just disappear from the voting booths, just like they weren't showing up before he came around. that's a small percentage of people, for sure, but not nothing.

Republicans as a whole have a shrinking population of voters, so the party's looking to take the lessons of what worked with Trump and channel them into some puppet they can control (Vance is a good target, considering how good of a boy he is at listening at being a lapdog for Thiel, supposedly).
