The other allegations aside I find it strange that B&B can repeatedly go to f.e. Belarus with what I presume is a tourist visa and publicly post videos for near 2 million subscribers? The Belarusian government is super paranoid about undercover reporters getting into the country. The embassy doesn't Google the applicants name? And now he has some well-connected Russian people to save him from Serbia and he was also held in Chechnya so the Russian authorities must have some knowledge of him. There's just something that is not being told.

I don't know, I don't watch all his videos. As for Belarus, I think he presents Belarus in a relatively benign way, maybe they hope he will help encourage tourism in that country. He speaks Russian and I think a bit of Belarusian and is generally a charming guy. And being a vlogger with so many subscribers they can't really harm him either because he has a huge publicity behind him. China can't really harm Ai Wei Wei either for that reason. And is it really that difficult to get someone out of Serbia if you have connections in Russia? Serbia is Russia's little brother, I imagine that authorities when they get a friendly call from a Russian colleague don't really oppose to it because what dog do they have in that fight anyway? Just networking and social skills at work I think. He basically advertises for all these countries, there is no reason they shouldn't be benign to him

It just doesn't sit really well with my experience of going to Belarus. But let's see if he goes somewhere really hardcore like Turkmenistan. He was talking about Central Asia being the next place anyway.

Once again, we've seen the highest number of new infections in a single day as of yet, with the US being a major contributor.

WHO reckons it's "very unlikely" that we'll be able to eradicate this thing.

(The "right now" part at the end seems a bit like it was added by the press agency to boost morale.)

Keep cocooning, everyone!

I got offered free tickets to a music festival in August. Fuuuuuck no. What the hell?

good thing donnie very wisely withdrew the US from the WHO, so now he doesn't have to look at all the useless stats and listen to the pointless advice they make up just to make him look bad.

and not a chance in hell they're getting any money they're owed from him. don't they know about his casinos?

To leave the organization, the U.S. is supposed to give a one-year notice and pay outstanding dues, according to language that the U.S. added to the WHO constitution when it joined the treaty in 1948. As of June 30, the U.S. owed $198 million in unpaid membership dues.

Went out for a haircut and went to a record shop yesterday. First time ever wearing a mask out which was pretty cool. Not many other people were though ? (think most people kept them in their pockets in the street and only put them on in shops).

Was reading before about the lack of long term immunity as well, allegedly only lasting for a few months If that. What they don't know tho is how effective the t-cells will be in remanufacturing antibody response when re exposed to the virus , which means that that at least there is a chance that reinfection won't be as bad as initial exposures

If it proves to be airborne, and antibodies last a few months, this could eventually decimate a large portion of the world’s population, if no long term vaccine is developed.

Positive Metal Attitude

Went out to a restaurant on Friday and had a nice steak with an old friend. It's a big enough place with lots of space between tables, the waiters wore visor/mask things and we ate at 4 to avoid the busiest time. As it turned out the weather was quite nice so I should have requested and outdoor table, but it was fine. Anyway, nice to enjoy some normality.

Went shopping for some groceries, people have lost all inhibitions over here, it's just masses of people not giving a shit and not taking any precautions. I fear we are going to pay for this stupidity in the long run. Oh well.

reading reports abut autopsies and how they're finding blood clots in almost all internal organs. yikes. also, still more reports of "i felt bad and 5 days later was in intensive care" or "he was fine then one morning felt terrible and we went to the ER and 5 days later he died".

this scenario repeats itself often and hits people in different ways and some people do OK and some people just get totally trashed by it and if they survive will have life long complications from organ damage.  many of these people are young.

it's really just amazing that forehead slapping that so many americans won't wear a mask. disinformation, lack of consistent messaging and stupid orange man along w/silly internet conspiracies are walking people into their graves.

oh today is saturday. had no idea.

I was shopping for a light bulb and the city was very full and people didn't really keep the 2m distance that was directed but everyone wore a mask in stores. Only a limited number of people can enter stores at the same time and there often is someone outside the store that tells people when they can come in and makes sure everyone wears a mask. At the bottom there are arrows to mark the ways that you can go to avoid people running into each other. In supermarkets you have to use a shopping cart so you naturally keep distance or otherwise they don't let you in. I'm thankful that people here seem to be halfway reasonable about the situation but I feel that the discipline starts to loosen and people go shopping just for fun not just when it's necessary. The good weather doesn't really help. I compared the number of infections and deaths with the voting behaviour in my state and as it looks in more green and left oriented areas people stay safer while in more conservative/right-wing areas there are more infections and deaths. Luckily the number of new infections and deaths is falling as for now but it can change very rapidly as we have seen in other places. There is a misconception that only because things are developing into the right direction people can relax and stop being careful while the reason things are getting better is because they have been careful. It's called "prevention paradox": The prevention having the intended effect makes it seem as if the prevention can be loosened. It's psychology. Prevention paradox is a very dangerous thing

Yes, it is the objective to develop a vaccine.
