They’re fearful of the growing cultural influence of South Korea , Japan and their idol cultures. Good luck fighting that. The internet did away with most cultural isolation in Asia, except poor North Korea.

really curious to see if this Evergrande stuff makes the government start to rein in some of the big capitalism the country is so dependent on. i think it's probably impossible at this point, but if any country could force it despite a possibly disastrous outcome, it's China.

I don't think it's impossible to do it at all.  If any country in the world can do it, it's China.  They will succeed because the communist revolution is inevitable

i think using the word devolution this way, for me, makes sense since i view fascism negatively and as a back step from any possible system. but yeah.. your definition sounds correct.
