Then we stopped working at 5 and held a rally on the landing and chanted "go! to! bed! go! to! bed!" for a bit.

Then we went to bed.

personally i stopped saying things like this in november. even though a lot of people are feeling this for obvious reasons, i no longer feel safe voicing or even joking about it.

the internet is gonna get scary and fucked up over the next few weeks. be prepared, find good reliable news outlets. stay safe

But anyway, I saw a good post on Bluesky that sums up my feelings on everything.

and a silver lining: the italian prime minister melina (or whats her name) recently went to maralagoo because an italian journalist in iran was jailed. shortly after her visit to maralagoo iran released the journalist. coincidence? interesting, isnt it?

perhaps it helps having a mob-lord in the white house. those other mob-lords on the international stage might start to behave a bit better, for a change. (i mean, one can hope, right?)

That’s really good to hear. Not sure how true it is, but I have been hearing that Trump might try to do another deal with Iran re their nuclear program (after he scrapped the deal that Obama made during his first term). Meanwhile Biden has been briefed by Sullivan about doing a possible military strike on Iran to try and attack their nuclear sites. I pray this does not happen during biden’s last weeks. Lots of reasons for Iran to be angry and uncooperative toward trump, but if this Italian story true it sounds like he has a diplomatic back channel with Iran. Some kind of diplomatic deal with Iran instead of letting Israel lead us into an unnecessary war with them would be a breath of fresh air. I am not at all optimistic but one can hope.

If I catch a glimpse of that orange cunt's face I scroll past asap. Its gonna be a long 4 years.

I think the state of the internet is what worries me the most. Early to mid 00s sucked and the mainstream media essentially gaslit us daily but going online was still a refuge. Back then nazis and flat earthers had to literally pay for their owner web hosting to have a presence. There was a imperfect yet comprehensive gatekeeping in place. Even the biggest bastards in office knew there were lines in the sand to not cross when it came to dog whistling their more extreme supporters. 

20 years later most of the public has minimal media literacy. Legit journalism is hanging by a thread in terms of funding and reach. We've gone from the fairness doctrine of the 1970s that fostered discussion and debate framed in reality to a "fairness doctrine" via social media that literally gives equal footing to ideologies grounded in reality and ideologies rooted in fringe and false narratives. And now those taking office and their financial allies are about to directly weaponize the latter against their opponents. 

It's gonna suck. Weirdly I'm more numb to it than ever and I'm doing a-ok with actual live and family and work...but then few times when I think about it it really worries me  - I realize it's going to get worse than the 2016-2020 era. I think Will from CTH said something like "every day is more stupid than the one before it."

I was on the phone with an old friend yesterday, a very christian guy who studied agriculture to help people in third world countries. He's always been very extreme with god but not with other views, so I was really surprised to suddenly hear him talk about the left being so annoying because they tell you to call a trans woman a woman, and that upsets him a lot. Apparently JD Vance, Trump etc., have good ideas according to him, what the fuck do I even say in this situation. I doubt talking to him about listening to actual journalists would help. I would love to ask him when all these trans women have told him to call them a woman. And how in my eyes Trump and his goons are the literal antichrist. Goddamnit man, I do not surround myself with people who can't even accept a trans woman.
