A lot of these names would be perfectly valid horse names btw

Maybe whatever the new forum's name ends up being, it should also have a horse for a logo.

No offense, but I feel the title of this thread should be changed to like "New Forum Naming Poll" or something like that...I totally glossed over the title "What's In A Name" and the thread was already like 3 pages deep before I noticed what it was for, and I've been eager to cast my votes

My votes explained:

We Are The Dreamers of Dreams - it would be a close acronym and follow in the pattern of the original form, WATDD. Kind of awkward because it's all typed with one hand on a standard layout keyboard.

So Many Machines - Another rich soundbite, perhaps it sounds too much like a "gear" forum rather than a music fan one, but i like it

EKT.net - easy to remember, has a piece of the history of watmm in the name

Port Rhombus - It's a port, i love the analogy of a forum to a port, a rhombus shaped port, squarepusher. I dunno it just has enough elements to feel right. And the track it's about might be squarepusher's best of all time? (ok maybe not but it's up there)

The rest felt too memey, hard to spell/remember, obscure, odd

Port rhombus is a reference to candy (wine gums). The rhombus shaped pieces say PORT on them.

Wasn't it supposed to be a Nobukazu Takemura remix that he did, but it sounded too different from the original to be usable on a remix compilation? So instead it was released as an original track.

Can't remember where I heard or read it Could be a bogus story but IF true, it would make it a port too, wouldn't it?

I imagined it as a reference to an RS232* port or something, and also the pun that it sounds a bit like a place name

We haven’t discussed as a group yet but I think the plan will still be full steam ahead.
This extra guaranteed time from Joyrex allows us a little leeway to work through any glitches up front in the new place before opening it up to the community.

The name also has to look good! We do have some designers on board, right? (Besides j) I hope there’s some interest from the people with the design skills.
