What's in a name? (New Forum Naming Poll)

just playing with some recently nabbed fonts that looked good-ish for my current fave forum names. i'm no designer at all obv (many of the fonts are the same font on different names, some of the fonts are pretty similar to others used, etc.)

Yeah I have second thoughts on Keyosc. It's cool but way too niche. Even sound mofo's on here needed it to be explained to them why others thought it was good. Secondbadforum is the bes but only in a funny way and can't be taken seriously.  Hmmm.

Starting to warm towards Reasonable People.

I remember when joyrex . com disappeared and watmm appeared in its place and I thought watmm was a shit name, its just a vocal sample from one of the not-best tracks on saw 85-92. It didn't even make sense, we weren't the music makers (except for a minority), we were the people talking about the music makers

But after a while the name becomes the thing, and the thing was the community, and then the name doesnt matter anymore because its just the token that you know the community by

This is not a bad concept for keyosc, should it win.

Honestly feel like WCBYD is really our best option here, it's the most likely to "stick", and also will appeal to more new people (lots of young ppl seem to be getting into aphex). It also just seems like a fitting concept overall. The new forum exists because we care, etc.  Keyosc is cool but will alienate some people. I don't mind letting team aphex win this one if it means a better chance of the new forum being successful lol

All the other options are pretty shite imo

no. and it's changed per releases/live tours/designers (tDR have been regular collaborators with AE for the art/design/etc. but not the only ones)

the most 'classic Autechre style' font is probably the one from the LP5/EP7/GantzGraf era. personally i'd think using any actual AE/Aphex/whoever 'font/design' style wouldn't likely be a good idea. i was trying to go with sorta -adjacent vibes with those, mostly. there's probably some great designers/hobbyists around here (gnarly's sketches were looking cool!) who can do 1000x more interesting actual work on things. i was just throwing ideas out there i guess...i don't imagine anyone wants to spend real time on it until the name's chosen tho.

I was also thinking, that maybe we could use the 2nd best name of the poll as a subtitle ? E.g., "Keyosc - We care because you do" or "We Are The Dreamers of Dreams - your kiosk of electronic music news", something along those lines.

faves: the last handwritten ...we care, second bad forum, beep street, the empty center surface noise, so many machines, 2nd keyosc (the one with the knob is cool tho, could see that idea working in general i just didn't love that particular font style when skewed on the plane like that but it's not bad), and the trashbear keyosc one is great all around. good stuff!
