Guest Dogboy73
I don't believe any of those early releases actually existed. I think it was just the Board's being a bit geeeky & making up EP covers & track lists for music they hadn't even made yet! That's why we've never seen the tracks from them appear anywhere. They simply don't exist! Either that or there's some sort of 'Da Vinci code' style cover up that's keeping these tracks from becomming public domain! It's also why the Board's removed them from the discography on their website. Joyrex
The pre-Twoism stuff does exist; I've spoken to owners of said releases and I happen to own a BoC Maxima cassette. You have to understand, until Twoism, BoC did all their releases DIY and for friends and family; the only reason they were ever made known to the public was the fact the Cosmic Crofter (who ran the old BoC EHX site) posted them as they were part of his personal collection and wasn't even a complete discography. Granted, I am a bit amazed that after all these years, not one of these releases has leaked, whereas the Old Tunes stuff slipped out quite easily. Hopefully soon we'll see these releases in some form and be able to appreciate them as much as the rest of Boards' body of work. Alzado
the biggest reason i think we don't see them released (officially, that is) is because I'm guessing the songs pose too difficult a task in terms of sample clearance. it would be too expensive. as for why they haven't leaked, lord only knows. they must given them to some very trustworthy people. Joyrex
OTV1 may contain tracks from some or all of the pre-Twoism stuff, but I doubt it, although it's incredible out of all the OT material, not one known track from the pre-Twoism releases is in there (that we know of). Fans would have matched up times by now anyways and found ones that fit and proclaimed them to be those tracks anyways, so there's further indication that these tracks are not part of the pre-Twoism discography of known recordings. RE: sample clearance - there's not too many OT tracks that use overt samples (Trapped and We've Started Up are two that come to mind), so I don't think that's entirely the issue. Yep. All i am saying is that of the 35 unknown tracks on OTV1 some of them might actually be from the early rare material. Some of the times can be matched up and a lot of them dont match at all but then BoC already have several tracks on different albums which also dont match up. So to say they cant be from the early material if they dont match up is bollocks.. Guest konnan
I think they have a huge back catalogue. If you look at the unreleased tracks from Live sessions and interviews in which they state they had to choose songs for Geogaddi, I believe them. I also believe the Old tunes series is real, it just sounds so BoC. Why wouldn't they be busy with music before twoism? If it exists it would be out there. It's not so it doesn't & I won't believe oterwise until we hear something official from BoC or WARP. Nothing less than a proper release will rebut this view. From Play by Numbers, "Circle" from Hooper Bay - what fucking more do you want? Do you realize that RDJ has tracks that you have no fucking clue about, that lots of people "in the know" know about, and that you will never hear? How is that any different than BoC having a back catalogue owned by certain individuals, photos of said releases exist, and bloody audio samples from their own site to boot? So you're saying since you've never heard any RDJ track that might be in the hands of a few trusted individuals, that surely it must not exist? You sir, are a jackass.
