i definitely agree with you on this compared to untilted. but wrt draft i'm still out in the woods. at this point i prefer draft. but time, and especially the extra disc may be a game-changer

Untilted is as full of 'ideas', just less track 'units' to hold them. AE are all about moments and transitions for me, so I don't really think in terms of 'tracks' when I reflect on their music.

I like it. Definitely a strong recovery after Untilted. Quaristice is just about as good as Draft. The ambient bits are fucking awesome. Paralel Suns. Yes. Notwo. Yes. I missed ambient Autechre, and Quaristice delivered. And it's dark as fuck. Draft was dark, but Quaristice wins. Nasty shit.

But seriously, what the fuck @ bnc Castl. No.

Other highlights include Rale, Steels, Perlence, and Simmm.

Confield is still the best album of any kind ever.

I still love Incunabula.

But sometimes you have to challenge yourself by pointlessly ranking things. It might be different tomorrow, who knows! I once thought Untilted was better than Draft. Boy, was I wrong.

I'm about halfway through my first listen. So far I'm really liking the flow of this album. It seems they've put a lot of thought into the overall album arrangement this time around. Sounds like they've used quite a few samples from older albums and reworked them into new "songs" (noticed this especially on Simmm, but in a few other places as well). It's like they've taken everything they've done in the past and smushed it all together for this one. It's a refreshing change from the direction of their last several releases. I'm digging the frequent incorporation of human voices. And I'm liking the shit out of the sound design on Fol3 right now --reminds me of a couple tracks near the beginning of Chiastic Slide (the huge slushy in stereo sounding one, and the opening track with the metal-hinge rhythmic loop). fwzE is also fucking sweet. This track and several of the others have a real sense of humor to them, another nice break from the rather austere vibe they've had on recent releases (which I love as well. Draft 7.30's my favorite thing they've done).

Haha, bnc Castl's one of the goofiest things I've heard. Love it. It sounds like they had a blast making this album.

Quaristice is basically the Ae in review mash-up album with a heavy dose of ambient pads entering the equation for the first time in a long time. I like it. Sounds tongue-in-cheek, but carefully planned out. It's the fun-loving Ae.

Cool man. I was actually wondering what your thoughts on the album were, as I recall you critiquing Ae/Gescom a fair bit in past posts.
