its just very fuckin hard to make visuals for ae music.

gantz graf is the only one that works for me.

even cunningham failed in my opinion.

he would probably succeed nowadays though.

check the youtube fan videos and see what i mean. they are all shite.

youre kinda right on that one but it wont be the same once its finished, the visuals for stereo delay effects are not added yet and the less repetitive the video gets in the end

so we're paying again for more of the same?

excellent - milk it boys, milk it!

Yeah. agreed. I don't get it... they say releasing a soundboard or single track in-studio live take of their set would be "milking it," but then they go and release 150 different versions of the same tracks. To me it only comes off as undermining the integrity of the track as conceived of as a "song" rather than a process. I dont know if that makes sense, but it just seems like they are saying.... "look! seriously, it's live jamming people! look how many craptastic versions we can shit out. please pay for them all."

Maybe its a subjectivity thing, but I have difficulties taking an album as seriously (as say Draft) if they can get so many different versions with little effort, then have people pay them for these when they come off as after thoughts. It just doesnt make sense.

If this was their intent, the point would come across much better if they released an entire live take of their set. Conceptually, this just seems like a mistake.

Just going to weigh in once here. So many of the comments on this thread are at a basic level of discourse that I'd equate to the perpetually pissed off people who threaten to cancel their subscription to whatever MMORPG is doing something ungodly (i.e. that isn't exactly what they would do), and thinking that their threats are going to strike terror into the hearts of creators of said games.

So what, you're upset that Ae haven't released soundboards / brand new material / better mixes / [inset exactly what you want]? Then I have two suggestions for you. Either spend some time working on your own tracks, and put some of your (productive, I'm sure) ideas to work, or just don't buy it, but I don't get the complaining. I don't understand why there's this feeling that Autechre somehow owes it to the people here to go by their suggestions; they're artists who lead lives well independent of this space, and none of you would be here if you didn't think there was at least a basic pattern of consistency to what they release.

And about the "fuck this not worth my time not going to buy it" posts. Okay, that's great, I don't think anyone here cares one way or another if you get this from a torrent or through official channels. Don't kid yourself if you think that somewhere, the people at Warp are reading and saying "oh shit, anonymous internet guy isn't purchasing the new material....we'll just have to shut 'em down then."

So mightn' be perhaps have a redirect to just talk about the music?

Aegreed. It has been ridiculously milked. Great idea from a business point-of-view though, selling reiterations of the same 'songs'. At the end of the day, consumers have a choice, buy it or don't buy it. The suckers will fall for it. This is my personal opinion that Ae/Warp have concocted a greedy sales tactic.

I don't get the complainning neither. You've got the chance to listen to different versions of some great tracks. Some of them are longer ones, others are a bit different, and others are really different.... In the end, it's better than having nothing to listen to until the next autechre album, it does cost money sure, but honestly you choose to buy it or not, you can listent to a preview... I just find it great to listen to different versions.... The Plc cc is not that different, but it's really great indeed, and I'm sure you're gonna listen to it a lot.

And I think that the one track a day concept is great, it would be better if it wadsn't coming everyday at 3pm, bt rather at 12am or 7am... I think that's a great concept, warp is just trying something here, and thanks for us all, it's with our friends autechre, so just be glad to listen to more stuff and bits, until the next album...

(sure a soundboad will be great, and I would really like to have these livesets tracks appearing in the coming weeks on bleep, but honestly, in the end, I'm sure you'll all be glad, and really fond of at least one of these 13 tracks ! )

So giving "The Plc ccc" a good listen, some thoughts. This is definitely the most radically different of the versions I've heard. The Quaristice (Versions) bonus disc didn't feature any departures on this level, really.

Also, I'm just going to say it. This is "The Plc" chopped and screwed. Which is an excellent idea for an artist such as Autechre who usually manage to fit so many ideas into such a short space of time.

Addressing those "milking it" comments, I guess I'm just seeing this from a different light. Ae are significantly influenced by dub, a genre which is prone to "versioning" the same basic ideas (a bass line and a beat most often, with different effects / speeds / percussion applied) a number of times. I don't think this is a conscious decision by Ae or Warp to make money the easy way - it's more an illustration of how many different directions the ideas and themes from Quaristice can go.

I reckon Warp have introduced this concept now for when Aphex finally gets off his arse and gives them his next album. "The suckers'll pay" say the Warp fat cats with their Northern accents. Meanwhile Aphex utilises that algorithm off Windowlicker for creating 50 million reiterations of his tracks so that he can once again go laughing all the way to the bank while the fanboys are busy spending their hard-earned at Bleep.com via PayPal.
