Richard D. James Album (10-Track Version) is honestly my favorite album ever made. I've probably listened to that album about 300 times. Analord and Rushup Edge/Confederation Trough were refreshing when they came out because lately in the last few years I've been into Autechre a lot. What with Untilted and Draft and now Quaristice which are all awesome, don't get me wrong, it was nice hearing something danceable while all that experimentation from Autechre was going on.

 

What I would love to see is Richard D. James Album Part II or something, basically the same exact style. See some say that Hangable Auto Bulb was better than RDJ Album, but I feel that on RDJ Album there is something that he had perfected that wasn't present on HAB. It was as if he had figured out a way to make all those drums feel like lyrics, and all the melodies and background sounds just added another dimension to the experience as a whole.

 

I know he doesn't really give a shit about impressing anyone or putting out his stuff, but I really wish he would just scroll through his laptop and release some tracks that sound like that era of Aphex. JUST TEN IS ALL IM ASKING FOR MR JAMES JUST TEN

It is frustrating to me though, as far as his recent material goes. I did enjoy some analord tracks and a bit of the tuss, but overall analord (despite its length) left me wanting more, and tuss still hasn't been sufficient. I'm digging some of his recent live sets, but it's hard to gauge anything he will release next. He could spin out a hardcore set and release 60 minutes of a single modular synth patch that slowly changes tone, but not pitch over time, just to be funny.

 

He hasn't done anything ambient (aside from the prepared piano tracks on druqks) for a some time and it'd be nice for him to release something ambient like saw I or II again.

 

However, I will say personally that a new album in the vein of surfing on sine waves would be most delightful. Even though I appreciate some of his later efforts a lot more and would regard other stuff as more complex and showing off his talent. Still there's something about surfing on sine waves, if not the overall mood of the album, that just has always sat perfect with me. SAme with saw II but for some reason I think he may be "done" with releasing ambient music (hope i'm wrong)

At Oxegen Aphex played a reworked version of Audax Power and there was some nice ambient moments in between the drill and bass. He's not given up on the ambient stuff just yet. Selected Ambient works vol 1 and Surfing on Sine Waves are two of my favourites, I actually come across a live version of Heliosphan from Denmark's Roskilde festival in 1997 which is excellent.

I agree RDJ album is brilliant

my personal fav is Fingerbib, but i also play carn marth and cornish acid every week.

and thats just regarding the music, in terms of art, its brilliant too. that album cover stands out in a pool of records. the back cover still puzzles me though, but i like it.

oh and richard looked awesome in that era.

Yeah well I mean sometimes I do feel as though I may have overplayed certain Aphex Twin songs or

tracks I geuss they would be called sense, um, songs have to have lyrics and most aphex twin tracks

do not have lyrics except for like milkman and, um, ah, come to daddy and some other tracks on the

come to daddy ep or the ctd ep, for the lazy folk, but there is so much different aphex twin music out

there that you can never really over play everything of his, can you, as he has so many different

albums and aliases.
