Aphex Twin uses a PC?

Don't PC's lend themselves well to building from the ground up? Can you do that with a Mac? Because God knows, Aphex would have a custom computer, not an off-the-shelf jobbie with Quicken and Sonic the Hedgehog pre-loaded.

well i can say for a fact that the VAIOs he owns are not customisable at all.

How is aphex able to make all his tracks using a PC, I thought macs were optimised for music creation and PCs always get the blue screen of death. What do all the people who write crappy electronic music on macs think of this, since he is the god of electronic music, don't they get the point or is it that all the studios in the area are financially obliged to purchase mac equipment due to current contracts and the general smoke & mirrors advertising campaign of apple to appeal to art student across the globe

First of all ima be a total douche bag and say everything you said was total bullsh!!t. First of all Aphex Twin isnt the god of electronica. Of course he is one of the most widely known electronica musicians maybe on the planet but that does not mean there is no one better then him (it's all opinion, but I do think it's ignorant to still say that). Music has no right or wrong way to be made. I can start throwing spoons at a frying pan and record that on a 4channel cassette mixer, throw in scratching of metal plates against each other and have a mic connected to a fuzz guitar pedal and beat box and still come out real sick and amazing sounding. That applies to PC's and Macs too. Most software that are on pc are available on Mac and vice versa (im pretty sure u can install Mac OSX on a PC now a days because of the Intel technology used in macs now). So pretty much it all depends on if it's more comfortable for you to use, either a Mac or a PC. Ive only had the blue screen when making music once in my 5 years of using the pc to create music (error in a new plugin I downloaded). And im pretty sure Richard doesnt only use Macs, if you pay attention to most of his live sets he uses a Sony Vio laptop pc.

(I have repeated somethings that the other forum peepz had said, kinda typed this before reading the rest of the thread, but yeah....)

it seems like apple quality has been on the down trend since becoming hip

somebody spilled beer on my macbook pro and I had to replace the keyboard. Fortunately, there was a plastic sheet underneath the buttons that spared the macbrains

I've heard/read that the old gen of ibooks and such were ridiculously durable. It makes sense RDJ would ride around witha tiny little vaio tank.

More warez on a PC too, eh?

abso-fuckin-lutely. cubase is, like photoshop, software that i would pay for if it cost $50, but instead it costs $1000.

I'd say it's about even actually. For every program (graphics or audio-related) i download on my PC, i download its mac counterpart for my macbook. I typically make more music on my laptop though, because I like to make tracks while I ride trains in NYC, makes the time fly.

when will people learn that its not what you use, but how you use it.

PC or Mac who gives a fuck!? If you know how to write music and have some skill or talent it really does not matter if its done on a pc or a mac.

if it makes y'all feel better, there are tons of sampled Macintosh samples all over his music despite the fact he's uses a Vaio or whatever. As well, Metasynth is a mac only app and its all over the Windowlicker ep.

just to shut some mouths.

Late one night, HBO ran a documentary simply called "Gay Sex in the 70's" and it chronicled just how off the reservation gay men were about sex. These dudes were recounting the shipping yards and abandoned piers. There would be empty tractor trailers waiting for cargo the next day but at night, dudes would stuff themselves inside, in the dark, doing poppers and grabbing for any hard cock available. I feel like that video captured the essence of that ethos. Especially since the party loaded into a trailer at the end.

Yes, I saw that. Gross huh?

Someone mentioned the smell.

Oh, and I miss my mac pismo. Great durable laptop

I think aphex put his GX-1 up for auction on Vemia for a short bit of time and then he decided to pull it Changed his mind I guess.

Exactly. I bet he switches between them as he seems to do with equipment setups not forgetting hardware sequencers. In the past he's probably used different computers e.g. Atari ST, Amiga, Sinclair Spectrum, not forgetting other miscellaneous gadgets you could use to make tracks on. Most experimental musicians do this. I have.
