actually they both look tasty, love a nice meatball sandwich.

edit: jules, i lived in cape may when i was a kid, and i used to love the sauce (some kind of an oil/vinegar mixture) they put on hoagies. any chance you have a nice jersey recipe you can share?

the top one is a local italian deli near me. pretty far from the trash of subway.

the oil/vinegar mixture for a good north jersey sub is a tough one. when i make them at home, i use oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt and pepper. but i swear each place has their own special vinegar or something, i can never get it just right.
