I impulsively sold every game I own and put my xbox on craigslist yesterday.

how come that?

I don't like how much I use electronic devices and how much time i spend playing games specifically, but I don't have the self-control to just play for half an hour or so, as well as the fact that I really need some extra cash right now so I can get back into school.

You should be able to come back to Video Games later on in life, a noble decision.

Sorry if this is spam, but a game I worked on is currently available for preorder 25% off and comes out next Tuesday:

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet was originally released for XBLA during the 2011 Summer of Arcade, and is now headed to Steam on April 17 for $15 including the DLC multiplayer mode Shadow Hunters. You can get it for just $11.24 if you preorder.

Nice - I played the trial and I liked it but never got around to buying it. What was your job on Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet?

I just want Max Payne 3 to be released already.

The story and lack of noir atmosphere that dominated the previous titles really threw me off at first, but it got me back on with the videos showing the system and engine. Fucking hell, it looks amazing. I'll most likely scream every time I get bullet time kills. That bullet time kill in Max Payne 2 in the beginning of the hospital. GOD DAMNIT, that was good.

The things I've heard/read about the animations in this game sounds incredible. I'm pretty psyched as well. But I would have prefered that it was made by Remedy (like everybody else I guess). But Rockstar generally seems to know what they are doing.

Agreed. Titles changing developers is generally never a good thing. Just look at Metal Gear Rising. They sure did fuck that up.

But I do have faith in Rockstar, so I'm psyched.

Rockstar Games is one of the few companies that can turn shit into gold. Their track record is amazing - GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, The Lost and the Damned DLC, The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC, Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare DLC, Bully, Table Tennis (YES!) and so on and so on. I can't think of another company that has made so many awesome games, and their ability to tell compelling stories is beyond what any other company has ever dared to do, and this is why I'm positive that Max Payne 3 is in the right hands. Also, their use of the Euphoria engine in their last couple of games has been the icing on the cake, and they're also using this for Max Payne 3.

^ITSP is an absolutely amazing game, and everyone should play it. What did you do on it, man?

That's the idea! Once I've got a better job and have some actual motivation at uni (I dropped out by not going to class because I was a lazy fuck), I may pick up games again.

I've always been a sucker for proper physics engines. I was baffled when I first experienced ragdoll bodies in the first Hitman game. I almost had a stroke watching the GTA IV trailer with the euphoria engine. The bodies seemed a lot less floaty and more heavy in Red Dead Redemption, I do hope they implement that into GTA V. I mean, it seems like they've nailed it in MP3.

My buddy just got first xbox. I've been playing a lot of old co op stuff like grand theft auto4, gears of war, black ops, and of course I talked him into getting skate3.

It's not just the Rockstar Studio's. Take Two generally don't seem to put out a lot of bad games (with a few exceptions of course). I'm so glad they were not bought by EA.

Things like they explain in this video, is what makes me really excited for it. Some of it are just small details. But I think that's what makes Rockstar better than most developers, there's just tons of small and cool details to everything in their games. And they also seem to be first with many new features in video games (like the psychics engine in GTA IV, the facial animations in L.A. Noire, the wildlife in Red Dead Redemption).

Wow. Max payne 3 Is going to be insane. Part 1 and 2 Were probably my favorite 1st player games ever played back in the day on pc.

"Based on real world research" - as opposed to .....

Sorry I'm being facetious - it looks alright, just that the new features aren't really anything I haven't seen before (aside from maybe the comic strip panel stuff, though I can imagine that getting a little stale quickly)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

When you put all the things they've mentioned in the video together, then I think it will be very special.

And I remember when they put out those similar Red Dead Redemption doc videos about the features it would have, before the game was released, and thinking it was nothing special. But look how that turned out.

Wow, this looks really good man, congrats.

Yeah that looks really good - it looks like there's loads of cool little ideas throughout it. Definitely gonna have to pick that up sometime! (would the control system be a bit of a nightmare on PC I wonder - and is just it me or have there been quite a lot of issues with both the steam store (images and pages taking ages to load) and the app itself (endlessly trying to connect) )

I was an engineer - did a bit of everything as is usually the case on small teams but mostly networking, physics, and some graphics. I also did some music for the multiplayer mode Lantern Run.

I was the lead engineer and did some more music for the DLC mode Shadow Hunters, which I highly recommend playing if you pick up the PC version since it's included. You and some friends take a bomb to the center of a procedurally generated asteroid.

The controls were redone for PC and are actually pretty nice. You fly around with WASD(or whatever you want to change the bindings to), and use the mouse to operate your various tools. Like with the claw, you can just click on the object you want to pick up and drag it around.

Have you by any chance seen the "Lantern Runs" the guys over at Giant Bomb have made? Great entertainment.

Yeah those were a big hit around the office, although iirc they hit some weird black screen bug that freaked us out.

I don't think many people played Lantern Run, which is a shame because it can be really fun. Judging from the leaderboard stats a lot of people that bought and played the single player never tried it. Hopefully some people will try it out on Steam.

I think Blighttown did it ;)

I bought Rocksmith today. Popped it in and plugged in my guitar. It's great, as I'm a noob when it comes to playing the guitar. But I made a lot of progress in a matter of only an hour or two. I'll keep at it and soon I'll be shredding like a madman. It's a ton of fun. Recommended.
