Monsters 0/10

not sure why I even bothered

I really enjoyed this....

not sure how a zero could come out of it...

Thought the film was really well paced and the story was a mix of Stalker meets District 9 meets Cloverfield...

Best Sci-Fi I have seen in a while....

wonderful soundtrack as well by Jon Hopkins....

8/10

the social network - really good. totally engrossing, well acted, managed to make what could have been a really tired, boring story entertaining. i liked the score as well. probably my favorite fincher movie.

I'd like to believe you, but I think you hit your asian head on the pavement recently.

Everybody gags on Sorkin and I'm just not feeling it. He's in the same camp as Tony Gilroy or Mamet for me. His characters never shut the fuck up and they're always saying something clever and their scenes are often punctuated by other characters saying really clever or interesting or intelligent things, as if their brains are wired with speechwriting software.

All preconceptions aside, I'm gonna wait for the video. I went to the theater to see Benjamin Button on Christmas day, so fuck you if you don't sympathize. :sorcerer:

meh, i didn't even know who sorkin was, so i don't really give a shit where he stands as a screenwriter. i just enjoyed the movie. it was well made and engaging. my only issue was timberlake's performance, which kind of derails everything because he's so blatantly The Villain. but taken as a bit of fiction it wasn't bad. it's not the greatest movie ever and the comparisons i've read to citizen kane are absurd, but it's one of fincher's better films. and i don't really like fincher. but, from your description, you will definitely hate this.

and hey, regarding button, i felt the same way when i went to see the ladykillers, so maybe i'll wait on true grit.

The Town was great: fantastic bank robbery scenes and get away chases; stuff that you can actually believe to be real. Sometimes the Boston accents were a bit too heavy therefore I lost some of the conversation, but the story line was good and it was well paced. The actions seens were ridiculous, but they were realistic, quite realistic. I really recommend this to everyone, I really enjoyed it.

ps: Pete Postlethwaite was fucking cool

True

Let Me In - 9/10 - I have always felt that the first version was too watered down and held back from fear of actually frightening the audience. I saw the trailer for this and felt that this version was going to be a true horror film. A film that makes you feel uneasy. A twisted sense of morality due to the main characters being children and the ruthless murdering of innocent people. Showing the guardian's duty to the vampire and him failing in accomplishing his purpose, his true love for the vampire and suffering miserably because of this. And doing what the first film failed at altogether, scaring people. Let Me In succeeds where the first version of the book fails. It freaked me out, made me feel uneasy, breathed love and life into all of the characters and none into the ones that were meant to be vacuous. It contains some of the best shots and lighting I have seen in any film in years. The 80's captured perfectly without going overboard. A perfect horror film score by Giacchino. Brutal beauty and just down right one of the best horror films I have ever seen. Cannot wait to see it again.:wtf::diablo::spiteful:

ry cooder soundtrack was a saving grace i admit. but the plot didn't work. i mean were these guys ever soldiers? certainly didn't act like it. and it annoyed me how they all went crazy after 24 hours in the swamp. a couple of tours in vietnam? ok go crazy. they've been attacked by a sniper, they're being hunted and have lost a man so what do they do? spread out and start shouting? i'm like "wtf are they trying to get caught?" then 1 guy goes "duh maybe we're giving our position away with all this noise?". the acting was wooden, cliched and corny... worst "war/army" film ever!

i was like my avatar throughout.

youth in revolt 3.9/5 - thought it was going to be juno2 but was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this was. it was quirky and unpredictable with cera, buscemi, liota all excellent.
