The American - Very unique. Obvious Anton Corbijn flick, absolutely gorgeous shots but somewhat slow tempo. Still enjoyed it.

Have you seen The Limits of Control? It felt very similar, worth checking out for the amazing cinematography (and the soundtrack is pretty good).

Commando (1985) with Arnold Schwarzenigger, the one liners in this movie killed me, they certainly don't make movies like this one anymore, 8/10.

i didn't know till watching it tonight that damon albarn worked on the soundtrack, good stuff.

I had only seen it one time years ago on VHS, my favorite line is where Cindy and Matrix are in the car after he rips the seat for no reason and she's babbling on and on and on then she asks at the end of that long rant ".... Are you going to tell me what's going on or what?" to which Matrix just replies with a flat "No", the line delivery and her expression at the end was amazing. The hotel fight with Bill Duke was probably my favorite scene, so 80's and so great.

the best thing about commando is the opening credits footage, him just frolicking with his daughter. "YAH I AM FISHINK VIS MY DAUGHTAAAH, VE ARE HAVINK SUCH A GREAT TIME I THINK I VILL HAAAHG HER NAAAAAOW! I LOVE YOU SOOO MAAAAAHCH MEIN BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTAAAAAH!" it's just the most heavy handed shit ever I GET IT HE LOVES HIS DAUGHTER!

it's awesome.

watched this recently, childhood favourite

Human Resources - 10/10

Watch it here: http://metanoia-films.org/hr_watchonline.php

All about social engineering in the 20th century. Very informative and quite emotive at times. Very well made documentary film. Also check out 'Psywars' which is on the same site I've posted above.

Eraserhead - David Lynch/10

Watch the Elephant Man, less lynch, more drama + adagio in strings

I rate my David Lynch movies based on the amount of David Lynch. So a David Lynch movie with less David Lynch would rate lower on my David Lynch movie list.

I'll take your recommendation into consideration though

Man I love Lynch's seriously "lynchian" films, Eraserhead and Lost Highway are incredible... but Elephant Man was a film where the writers and director combination really moulded something powerful. That and Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt are feckin top notch in this film.

So there's less of the nightmarish plot devices and imaginings thats typical of Lynch, but it does have a great visual style, and some really strong suspense and drama.

The man learned a lot from making this film, but I think he learned more from making Dune :/ from his mistakes.

Yes, it's not too good, remake of the remake, Tarantino as an actor is  the japanese actors speaking in english  Takashi Miike directing lured me into watching it. I'm not sure what movie Funkaholic is looking for.
